$6500 for 99 GLE?

That is what this guy wants me to pay him. I think it's too high...its got jsut the right options: power seats, heated seats, sunroof, black leather. So I'm tempted. Downside is $600 shipping as well. 141K Miles.

did you do a runthrough on www.kbb.com just to get an idea?also, that seems reasonable. I saw a 99 SE-L for $10,900 and people were thinking that that might be a little high. some said it was good, others said it should be closer to $9,000. so $6,500 for a 99 anything doesn't seem bad to me at least. mileage? tranny?

What is the status of your 98GXE? What would possess you to want to buy a 99 with 141K on it? Are you going from automatic to 5-speed? The price is certainly reasonable but the mileage is way too high for a 99.

My bad, now I see its a GLE you're considering. Obviously, you're not a 5-speed lover - sad to see!

Shipping? forget the car and find another maxima IN YOUR AREA.
You cant tell me that there are no maximas in your price range in your area with similar mileage as that one and similar options.

The mileage of the 99 is a huge drawback. Reasonable mileage would be say under 80K, not 141K.

The thing is I can't afford $8k or $9k on a lower mileage car. And maximas for sale in my area? Please. I can't find hardly any!

What happened to your 98GXE? Buy a low mileage 97 or 98 if you need another car. 141K on a 99 is ridiculous.

i couldnt find a fantastic deal on mine, but i dont feel like i paid too much. i haunted autotrader, cars.com, classifieds, etc, for a month without finding anything. if you cant find something in your area and MUST have a car, like i did, your priorities change and how much youre willing to pay goes up.

There's 3 maximas within 200 miles of me that have under 100K miles, but none of them have even close to the right options for me.

my gf just bought a 99SE with 60k miles, leather , heated seats, bose 5spd for $10,900..
can't tell if it was good deal tho, she really wanted it so she just bought it anyway.

i dunno i just wouldn't see myself paying $6500 for a ANY car that has 141k miles.. i bought my 97 last year with a 100k on it, for less than that, and the differences (from 97 to 99) are minimal.

you're going to need to drive it. i woulndt have a problem with any car with high miles, in fact i recommend it, the money you save can be used to fix any problem that pops up.

but if you havnet seen the car, thats not good.

for 600 shipping you should buy a plane ticket and fly out to see the car, that way at least if you see the car and dont like it, you can tell the guy you dont want it, if you like it you can drive it home, its not like mileage is an issue since it already has 141k. as to the price, i think its reasonable if thats what you want, though id make sure maintenance has been done to it, my car has 140k and ive had to change all my o2 sensors recently and also my knock sensor, so those little things add up. good luck!

I paid about $9,600 for my 99 and it had around 58,000 miles I believe. That was 6 months ago. Have you considered looking in Canada...maybe Winnipeg? Farther than 200 miles for you, but if there's nothing else closer in the US, then you could always consider it, plus the exchange rate is in your favor. I literally had to go about 1000 miles to buy my Maxima cause my town is sort of isolated. I was able to get a better deal with lower mileage. 141k is way too high IMO.

Oh yeah, try posting in the Upper Midwest forum and see if anybody is selling their Max, or knows of somebody selling one.

Is the $9,600, Cdn$ or the equivalent US$. I think 4th Gen Maximas are a lot more expensive, on average, in Canada than in the US.

It's in USD. I paid $12,100 CAD. There was recently one in Toronto with even lower mileage and I think it was $10,500.

I drove 25 hours straight to get my new Max a couple weeks ago. With the condition of the car and the mods, it was extremely worth it.

97SE, full leather, power seats, sunroof (white/black)
$4100 , 130,000 miles
Full 3'' Warpspeed exhaust w/ magnaflow
KYB lowering shocks/springs
Carbon Fiber Gen II. Altezza's
Carbon Fiber interior trim
B&M ST shifter
Injen ripoff CAI

Miles were a touch high, but the car is in pristine shape for the most part- Im in love with it.

He want to get a nice car but doesnt have the money so he wants to take a higher milage for a lower price. I did the same thing with my max. I bought a 98 with 130k in Jan. for $3,600. It was the GXE so it didnt have leather or any of those options but its fine for me.

The question is if you are really that tight on cash are all those options worth an extra $3000.
