don't you mean swirl control valve? if so look at the lower intake manifold, it's there.

That POS is located in the right hand side of the lower intake manifold. You will see a hose conected to it. That thing only makes it harder for us to cahnge out the knock senser if need be.

Being a cali spec owner myself it will be almost impossible to change the KS yourself but they do help....

The Maxima engine also utilizes the Nissan Valve Timing Control System (NVTCS) variable valve timing and lift management. Electronically controlled sensors measure throttle position and engine speed to activate the variable intake valve timing mechanism to meet demands on the engine. The NVTCS system helps provide better performance at lower engine speeds, without sacrificing high speed power output or fuel economy.

This system is not in the 4th generation Maxima engine.

It is a mistake. There is NO variable valve timing or lift system on the VQ30DE. The swirl control valve is there to promote complete combustion at lower revs to reduce emissions.

stand on driver side of engine bay.
locate the fuel pressure regulator.
look a little below and to the left of the fpr.
you will see a gold mushroom looking thing.

that is the swirl control valve.
