how much would you pay for this?

say you were in the market for a 1996 maxima se 5 speed, with 111K miles, white in color, BOSE stereo system, driver side power seat, maintained very well, but doesnt have leather, passenger power seat, or ABS..whats the most you would pay for this?

btw: this is my maxima, im thinking about selling it and getting an I30 5 speed.

Does it have a sunroof? How about the sound system? You haven't listed any mods - does it have any?

$4500, I just bought a '97 with 99k miles on it in mint condition + aftermarket parts for $5000. It all depends on how good of a salesman you are though.

the I30 and max are the same mechanically, the differences are in the stickies in the I30 forum I beleive, but we get goodies above and beyond the GLE trim maxima

From the 4th gen FAQ stickies:

Wood trim on the climate control panel
Chrome interior door handles
Electric fuel door release
Seatback pockets on the front seats
Rear seat headrests
One-piece rear floor mat (it covers the "hump" and has a logo in the middle)
Higher quality leather

Items like heated seats, sunroof, homelink, and leather were optional. It is very rare to find an I30 without a sunroof or leather. There was also an option called the Infiniti Communicator that was a built-in cell phone system.
Way I understand it, certain california 99's also had the Navi prototype system, then there was the 99 Limited that had a special woodgrain/leather steering wheel, special leather/chrome shifter, chrome limited door sills, and other special apointments. the -t or touring models also had either a VLSD 5-spd or VLSD auto and the same suspension setup as the Maxima SE. I30 owners also get the added benifit of most cefiro body parts (one piece headlights, etc.) are a direct fit, no modification needed.

yes, I had the same question myself but apparently all the T's have VLSD, there is a automatic VLSD tranny.

Further proof here:
http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...98&catalogid=1

and on another note, if you get the T and opt for the 5spd conversion, I'll buy your auto.

No, the I30 and the Maxima were both marketed in the States and Canada, the I30 is the Infiniti nameplate version of basically the same car as the Max, sharing the A32 chassis and mechanicals, the two cars have different exteriors, the only shared panels being the roof and doors. The US/Can I30 most resembles the Foreign market Nissan Cefiro, there are differences however in the length of certain exterior panels, however, most body mods meant for foreign domestic market Cefiros with exception of body kits will fit a US/Can I30 with little or no modification.

I'm suprised you have to look, most i30t's that I've seen are manual.

thats cystum

peoples, thats all i have been asking for. thanks to the people who did tell me a price.

the reason why i asked you peoples, because you purchased maximas, so i would get a clue on how much your purchased it for, i dont like to get prices from KBB and such, because they seem to innaccurate at times.

I like the look of the I30's ....the only problem is how they're so much slower than Max's ....but why? Adding an Infiniti clock can't slow down the car that much .I could see why if it weighs more, but what's so heavy? The I30 /Maxima is the same car mechanically , so, as the saying goes, where's the beef?

I'd say $4500-$5500 depending on the condition of the car... nice find with the 5 spd!

Dude... where the hell are are you getting your info from...they are not slower than the max, they consistantly achieve the same 1/4 mile times. In fact, the I30s with the limited slip and the 14 lb BBS rims acutally pull the 1/4 mile quicker than the max. Also, the I30 does not have an infiniti clock... its the max clock.

Is your Max mechanically sound? Unless you are shooting for a newer I30 you may be better off keeping what you have. You never know what problems may come along with a used car.

Just link and learn

Also has useful info on the Maximas of all generations, including the "floaters".

OK... I still dont see where it says anyhting about the I30 being slower or being heavier. All I saw was 1 test that car and driver did on a I30t auto that achieved a 16.1 1/4 mile and in a few they tested an SE auto that achieved a 15.9... .2 difference. There could be any number of factors that caused that small of a difference.

Read the last paragraph of fine print. It explains how the I30 is heavier versus the Max, thus why it's slower. Keep in mind i'm not bashing the I30. Its a good car, and, as the great philosopher Ferris Buller once said,"if you have the means, I highly suggest you pick one up"

I do see your point though. They are the same , performace wise. I just thought that all the luxo-stuff would weigh it down more. I guess if you put a Y-pipe in both cars, it wouldn't matter which car has the Homelink or not.

The weight between the two is not much edmunds.com showed only a 50 lb. difference... that is probably due to the different sheet metal.

The only thing that the I30 could have that max couldnt is:

-LSD
-fuzzy a,b,c pillars (which WILL fit on a max for those that want to upgrade).
-Leather e brake handle (which WILL fit on a max for those that want to upgrade).
-Map pockets on back of BOTH front seats.
-electronic fuel panel release (on gauge cluster instead of floor).
-rear head rests.
-adjustable front head rests.
-one piece rear floor mat.
-Possibly anti glare rear mirror and homelink (not sure if max has those or not).

The I30 contains NO extra sound deadening material beyond the max and the engine, suspension, drivetrain, exhaust, and interior are identical. The onlt thing that is considerably different is the exterior.

My Max has leather map pockets in the back of the seats.....and a leather E-brake boot. One could say that the Max and the I30 are the same car-just with different flavors.

But its probably better to mod a Max than an Infinti. Less stuff to have to change-remove.

BTW, what is a "fuzzy" a, b, and c pillar? Do you mean the chromed trim on the outside?

I mean that the actual e brake handle is leather not plastic... And what do you mean by its better to mod a max than an I30 cause there is less stuff to change/remove?... Every install on a max is exactly the same for the I30...

i would rather see a modded i30 than a max, looks nicer in a way..the maxima looks nice also, but seems like the modded i30s i've seen on the .org and cardomain all look nice

my only complaints of the I-30's is the wrap around foglights, no bumper lights, and the middle section on the trunk, if it was only just the body color of the trunk like the max and all emblem free with shaved keyhole it would be hot.
