How many are BIG Nissan fans?

Before my dad was purely domestic until he first bought a '91 Max. Now he is on his second Max, a '97 GLE. My bro has a '93 Max GXE, and keeping the family "tradition" going, I have a '95 Max SE.
Anybody else?

My dad's 97 GLE was the first Nissan we have ever owned. I wasn't really a Nissan fan until he bought that car and I found this board and realized what a Maxima can really do. Now I really like the Maxima, Xterra, Pathfinder, and Frontier but really dont care too much for the rest. Nobody else in my family has a Nissan. Maybe I can change that someday...

I bought my Max from my uncle. He was the first in our family to have one. Everyone else was either Honda or American all the way. I bought it from him when he got the 2001 Max. He testdrove BMWs and several other cars, but decided to stick with the Maxima...for the money it's tough to beat. I don't see myself switching either, but if I can afford a BMW I just might. lol.

Was hooked ever since my parents picked up their first '95 GLE. Drove it and loved it. Dad totaled it. Got another one identical. Mom totaled it. Mom thought Maxima was bad karma, so bought a Camry... decent car, but we sold it within 2 years. I bought a '96 GXE auto with my ex-gf. Had that till '98, now I have a '97 SE 5sp. I guess you can say we're a Nissan family, dad now has a 1990 300 Z Twin Turbo with 20,000 original miles (it's covered in the garage, only weekend car), and younger brother has a 1994 300 Z Twin Turbo stage 4 (about 400hp, also weekend car). My '97 Max is a daily driver with 131,000+ miles ( '91 Miata with 52,000 miles is the weekend car).

btw, anybody out there have a good copy of the old Nissan commercial with the pidgeons going after the Max after it drove out of the car wash, only to crash into the garage door as the Max pulled in a split second before and closed the door? Thanks.

Nissan has sold me, honestly the Maxima is the best of three cars owned. I'm only 19, but still think it's absolutely wonderful.
Also, when comparing it to Honda/Acura the build quality of the Maxima is actually better. Everytime my dad sits in my 97 SE he comments, "The interior is much more solid and better constructed than the CL" (3.2 CL Type-S 2001). The 98 4Runner Limited 4x4 is also quite well built, but the Maxima is very plush, and with almost 60,000 miles there have been ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS. Not a single hiccup. Once, just once the ABS light turned on. I turned the car off and back on and it went away, that's the only problem, hardly mechanical either. By the way, the ABS light did that on my Acura when I owned it too, kind of a freak thing I guess.
I would buy another Maxima and never think twice about it. Love the car, love the price. However, the new Altima and SE-R Vspec are also high on my desire list. In 1995 Nissan USA turned themselves around. They got the MUCH deserved 1995 Motor Trend Car of the Year. You guys realize this beat out the 1995 E36 BMW M3, I mean there's a major victory right there. The first year of production for the E36 M3, and they gave it to the Maxima.
Not a bad platform for modifying either.

Back in 1980 my grandfather bought a Datsun 810 Maxima. 1 year later my parents came to the US. My dad drove it and was convinced that it was a very good car. He was impressed with the car's power because one time he said he had a car full of people and groceries in the trunk and the car hauled a$$.
In 1989 my dad bought a 1985 Maxima. This thing gave my dad headaches. He spent thousands of dollars fixing the car and it was sluggish but smooth when it comes to acceleration. This car was given to the junk yard last summer.
In 1991 my dad was shopping for a used car but a friend who was driving a Sentra at the time convinced my dad to buy the Stnaza because there was a huge discount at that time. My dad bought it for $10,500 brand new. Compared to the 85 Max, the Stanza was too noisy. The Stanza is still with me today.
Then in 1998 my mom needed a new car because the Stanza couldn't handle the highway. My mom wanted a V6 and my dad chose the Maxima. My parents gave the car to me 6 months after I got my license.
I plan to buy more Nissan cars in the future. I absolutely love them.
My other relatives on the other hand own Hondas/Acuras. 2 Accords, 1 Oddysey, and 2 Legends.

This is my first Nissan, my other car was a Honda which took me through most of high school. This car has taken me through most of college and I think I'll be holding on to it for a good long time. Nissan has sold me on their brand with this car, I really love it. My family has owned domestics, japanese cars, and now a Volvo, and my Maxima is my favorite of the lot of them. I have never had any undue repairs performed on my car. Mechanically perfect since the day I bought it 3 and a half years ago. If only it handled a bit better... that will have to wait til I'm making some real money.

Fan????? Not sure yet
I like my car but don't love it. Had a 90 accord for 11 years before this car. I had that thing with MODS, various susupension set ups and took rather poor care of it. But that car never had any problems. No weird creaks, clicks, moans, or any other sounds. Now my MAXIMA I take great care of. I'm enjoying the power of the engine. It's also very quiet. Certainly rooming in the cabin. But I'm not so sure that nissans are as reliable as Honda, Acura, Toyota, or Lexus. Most of my friends and family own these four cars. They almost never have problems. Just the usual maintanence and an occasional cracked radiator. I've been on this forum reading about all the problems that people have been having. I'm not talking about problems with MODS either. Don't Flame me. I'm just not sure yet. You know that the four makers listed above typically hold their value better than nissan. That might mean something. We'll see.

About the problems, my Accord had transmission problems throughout the later miles I put on it (80k-100k) and it ended up needing a rebuilt transmission for more than I was willing to put into the car. It also needed, at various points, new CV joints and boots, a new alternator, and quite a few gasket and seal replacements. Even though my Maxima's an auto ( ) it hasn't had any tranny problems to date (60k miles), knock on wood.

This is my 1st Nissan
Been a fan since I bought my Max! Up to last fall I was strictly a US car (Olds, GMC) buyer, but I like the power, looks, dependabiliy, quietness, and mileage of my Max. I'm keepin' it for at least 10-15 more years!

Love nissan...for the money they are the car of my choice. I always wanted a Bimmer but thats later on down the rd though. Dependability, power, looks and price no other car can compare. This is my first nissan but by next month i will upgrade to a 95-97

Yeah I love the Max because it's a family tradition in my family (it seems like). My mother in-law had an 89SE and when that got up in miles she leased a 98 Millenia , while my brother in-law drove the Max to school everyday. My brother in-law now has a 97 SE 5spd, and my mother in-law just bought a 2001 GLE Ltd.(The Millenia was garbage) My other brother in-law has 2000 SE . We bought our 97 SE in March and it's be wonderful ever since.
Maximas are great but I really do wish I could buy a BMW.

My Dad had an 88 Maxima...I loved that car.
My grandparents had a 89 Stanza.
My Mom ( and I...it was my car for a while ) has a 91 Stanza.
I have an 97 Maxima...I love it more .
My brother has a 95 200sx.
Nissans have always been good to us. We've had problems with the '89 Stanza and actcually just sold that. But other than that, we haven't had any major problems with Nissan.
The first time my girlfriend came to my house, she joked that it looked like a Nissan dealership. We had all but the 88 Maxima from above in the driveway.

Best part is, my neighbor use to work for a Nissan Dealer, so they have 4 Nissans ( 3 Altimas and a 200sx ). So, at any given time you could see 8 Nissans at our two houses. Other people must have though that we were up to something.

not to sure anymore....
My dad had 240Z a while back then he bought a pathfinder that he passed down to me. That thing had 170k miles on it and i would pull my boat with it, i would go off roading with it, and drive the **** out of it ... and 170k never had a thing done to it except for regular oil and filter change.. and shocks... then it died ..RIP.. fliped on the high way ...
then I got a 96 max i was so impressed the way it drives and the power that seems to impress me every time I would put the pedal to the metal... but rescently there was funny sounds coming out so i brought it the dealer where I get it serviced at and they told me that I needed a new clutch i was pretty disapointed but figured it's only a clutch no biggy ... finaly got the clutch changed (cost me 950$) and when pick it up tonight the problems were still there and the dealer tells me that i need a new tranny and that its gonna cost me 3000$!!my max only has 70k on it this is rediculous!!
so im questionning nissan right now ...
and i was one who liked bragging about nissan reliability...

I got a free 87 Nissan pickup from my uncle which had 250,000 miles, 20,000 by myself, and it ran great forever. I drove it from Co. to Calif. and back last summer with 250,000 miles. The tranny finally went out and I bought my Max. I had an old Ford before the truck and it was by far the worst vehicle I have ever driven. My dad had 4 Nissan trucks for work, but now has an F-250. I'm definitly a Nissan fan now.
