Fluid leak... what is it?

I've got a fluid leak dripping under the car... noticed it after a 45-minute drive, upon stopping the car. I thought it was motor oil, but I jacked up the car and took a look, and it's coming from right behind the engine... the fluid's dripping down from somewhere up there, right behind the engine, and collecting on the little plate with three bolts on it (at the back end of the inner control arm? I'm getting these names out of my Chilton's manual) before finally dripping onto the ground... can anyone help me identify what's going on? I can provide a picture if necessary. Thanks in advance!

Heh... that would fit with the liquid being clear... I was just about to edit my post with that info when I saw your reply... but why would I never have seen this before? I use my A/C pretty often....

Thanks for the increased peace of mind, though.

It is always there... more when its humid outside.... you should worry if you don't get any water draining - it means the drain pipe is clogged. If you look above where the drip was - i.e. mid way up the firewall on the passenger half of the firewall, you'll see a rubber tube coming out of the firewall and just hanging out - not connected to anything. This is where the water drips from - you can go for a drive with the A/C on (10 mins or so) and then come back and look for dripping from that hose. That will confirm that what you noticed "leaking" was indeed water.

Doin't post in these type of threads unless you can give resolutions to issues. If you just want to build post count, take it somewhere else. This is warning #1.

Perhaps you should read my other posts

Perhaps you should read my other posts...the truth of the matter is my answer was honest. The description was not clear enough. I feel bad that you're jaded by others who take advantage of the forum.

If you are serious, the answer is no. If you are "using" anti-freeze, you either have a leak (you better hope thats the problem) or you have a blown head gasket.

The A/C system "uses" nothing. It "needs" freon. I know I'm nit-picking, but I want to be clear that the freon is not "used up" during the cooling process. The only way you go low on freon is if you have a leak.
