CD Changer Adapter

Current....

1996 GLE...With stock BOSE component system, single CD in dash deck.
On my 6 hour drive up to Montauk, NY...It starts gargling the song and eventually burns out. No more CD Audio, but everything else works. Tried different CDs, store bought and burned ones, nothing just get "CD ERR".
I got a Digital Audio 10 Disc Changer, pretty basic, with single "smiley" face connector. From changer to the back of my deck, all is well, and the deck has the CD Changer plug and is configed for such an accessory. However the plug just doesnt fit. It looks almost perfect, but missing it by like millimeters. Did I F*&% something up, or do i need a minor adapter to throw on there. Any help, greatly appreciated.

You can only use some specific CD changers with the bose HUs.... check crutchfield.com. I'm not sure if its a harness issue or both a CD changer and harness issue that prevents us from using any standard trunk mounted CD changer.
