Mounting Rims... Please read
Hey all,
I just bought some rims with tires, they are balanced so I would like to just buy some tuner lugs and throw them on tomorrow... The tire has some warning about havng professionals mount the tires... Are they talkin rim to tire or rim/tire to hub??? Anthing I should know? the tires are directionals, I have that figured out.... Any tips advice would be great. thanks guys

Make sure you get the right lugs. Of course, mount them so they rotate in the right direction. Do some research and see if you need centerbore or hubcentric rings or wheel spacers. Installation is simple, just pay close attention to all details, especially jack-up safety, lug pattern and torque.
One corner at a time:
- Loosen existing lug nuts in the first wheel - just enough so that you won't be rocking the car trying to force them off while it's in the air.
- Properly jack up the corner of the car at a time, support w/ jack stands and put some chocks behind other wheels to ensure stability.
- Remove the lugs, pull off the existing wheel.
- Install any rings/spacers (if necessary).
- Line up the lug holes, and install the wheel - handtighten all 5 lugs in the star pattern (below) so the wheel feels flush and there's no play.
- Lower the corner of the car so the wheel is sitting on the ground, removing jack stands and jack in the process.
- Use a torque wrench (IMPORTANT!) and torque each lug to 80-85 ft lbs using the star pattern below:
- Repeat for all wheels
.......1.......
..3........4..
.....5...2....
You'll want to check and re-torque the lugs (in the proper pattern) after a bit of driving. If you don't have a torque wrench, go buy one at any auto store for $40.. it's very useful and a necessity to properly install wheels (and many other parts of your car).
Good luck!

You would think so, but with my rims for example, even with the 5 x 114.3 lug pattern, I tired putting one of them on with out the ring and I could get the studs through the holes, but it was impossible to get the wheel all the way on.
