IPod thru stock bose?

I've been really wondering and trying to figure out a way to run my ipod thru my stock bose unit. is it possible? maybe thru the CD changer in the back since i dont have one?
I tried the FM transmitter, and it sucks in SF cuz there are too many stations so you always get static.
I have the stock single CD player with a cassette player. I realize i could go thru the cassette deck with a cassette and the cord hanging around, but I'd like to have something thats either built it or a cord coming around the back of the middle console.

As far as I know, the stock bose system does not have an auxillary input, which is what you are looking for. You'd have to go through the tape deck. And no, the cd-changer won't do it, because that isnt the simple L and R line level connection you are looking for. It's meant to carry signals to actually control a CD-Changer, not just play music.

About a week or 2 ago there was a thread that someone tapped into the CD Changer input for Ipod control. I remember reading it. he gave detailed directions. try using a search to find it

i thought that the stereo in the 97 was the same as 96? no?

chances are the cd changers are the same if even if the head units changed. Look at that aspect.

so yea... my 96 has a different HU (head unit?) than the 98 that is listed in several websites (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=321) as the earliest year for that product (AUXNISS by soundgate). So my refined question now is... any of y'all know if that cable will work with a 96 BOSE HU?
I dont have that SAT button. I just wanna make sure before i drop a $100 into something that wont work...

i suggest spending 10 bucks on the tape-deck adapter so you can avoid frying your whole system if you're not familiar with the electronics involved in the cd changer.

i would, but i wanna hide the cord, and prolly put in a custom tray using the iPod dock so it can charge also...
and i know about the Neo thing, but thats $250 too much...
its just a matter of if both stereos have the same pins on the back and if i had a 98 to take apart i would.
