Camshaft position sensor(phase). It's a $30 dollar sensor I believe.

Look in section 6-13 of the Haynes manual. It, in fact, does appear to be the camshaft position sensor which is located on the timing chain cover at the front of the engine. I wouldn't think it would leak, however.

The plastic case may have cracked so you never know, although it does seem unlikely

ran the codes. just getting the code for my front o2, but no 0101 code. Would this sensor give off a code only if it was completely crapped out? eg. coilpacks

Thanks

Well thanks for the post m8. I was looking around the engine compartment as i've been hearing some odd noises and sure enough that Cam shaft position sensor is also leaking on my max.

through PMs with another .org member, he says that it just might be the o-ring for the sensor and that i could just try swapping that out. I'm wondering if i take that sensor out, will oil just spill out? such a noob question
