Automatic axle shaft same as manual?

Hey, I seem to had come into some bad luck, my right CV boot has ripped completely, and has the sound of a flat tire when I drive (I've only driven with it less than a mile like that). My car is automatic and I have a manual parts car. Can I take the axle assembly (which includes the CV boot) from the manual car and put it on my car? I'm trying to do this for as cheaply as possible, I didn't expect this to break as it did.

Is there any other way to repair a ripped inner CV boot?

Thanks,
-Freddy
