dayglo, you should know better than to buy Bosch plugs. Take the friggin things back and only run NGK platinum (PFR 5G-11)or copper(BKR 5E-11) plugs. Try: KMC Parts, #2 - 1140 Bridgeport Road, Richmond (821-9833). The last time I checked the coppers were $2.74 and platinums $15.50. The owner recommends platinum over copper as they are OEM plugs. The debate rages on on this website. When I replace my plugs (haven't yet as vehicle is under 59K), I intend to go with platinums again.

I am also a firm believer they last for more than 60K. The gap is 0.044".

You can also buy the plugs at any Lordco.

Per Haynes manual - 1995 and later engines = 0.043 inch (1.1 mm) for platinum. For 1993 and 1994 engines = 0.039 to 0.043 inch (1.0 to 1.1 mm) for copper.

ill try 0.043 on the plugs, sounds okay?
i went to the closest can tire and bought the Bosch, but actualy was looking for NGK but they didnt have any in stock so i thought i would try these out.
im not sure the diffrence even though ive read a bunch of times to get NGK and that most max drivers use them. well i guess ill have to take them back and get the good stuff "duh"
thanks alot murdoch for the info

if anybody feels like it, can someone explain what a 0.043 and 0.044 gap diffrence would mean for performance? is 0.043 a closer gap meaning that the spark would get there that much quicker?

Those plugs have been sitting in there for 10 years... I hope you don't have too much trouble breaking them loose from the aluminum heads... I've read that sometimes thats a problem - where the threads get stripped/damaged. I hope you don't have these problems - I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Thanks. I was concerned about that so I went over to a friend's place 6 weeks ago and we took my plugs out with no difficulty whatsoever. My friend cleaned them up on a wheel and put them back in, clean as a whistle. They've got another 1,350 miles on them since then and the car is running like a champ.

My friend's brother also took his plugs out at the same time - 99 Maxima with 78K on the original plugs. He cleaned his up and put them back in and he's run nothing but 87 octane in the two years he has owned the car.

thanks guys i put the plugs in no problems, except its a pain in the ***. but not too bad, took a little less than an hour. hehe
.034 gap give or take a trillionth of an inch
no idle drops whatsoever its realy stable, pulls a bit harder in 2nd it seems..awsooome. im trying the Bosch platinum plugs out and will try the NGK later...Murdoch :P

Murdoch youre old fasioned man! if i had the confidance in my own judgement that you do then i could save alot more money. but i cant tell if plugs are bad or good, i just change them to make sure
that goes for all fluids too

dayglo, its common knowledge on this website that you're better off going with NGK plugs than Bosch. I hate to use the 4 most hated words in the English language (I told you so) but you will find out in due course what the more knowledgeable .orgers (and I don't profess to be one) know about Bosch plugs. They are not OEM equipment and perform best on European cars from what I can gather.

Come out to our next meet and tell us all about the wonderful experience you've enjoyed with your Bosch plugs.

Just put in the NGK coppers today, seems to run really well. Oh, BTW, I got them at courtesy nissan, just down the road for $1.66 each.

Throw the bosche away and purchase NGK plats and also NGK comes pre-gapped. Thus you dont need to gap them. Even if you check them they will be correct.

I think it's more the spark you get and the way the car performs more than anything. You can get parts cheaper at the place I advised on Bridgeport Road as well as any Lordco, rather than Crappy Tire.
