Those w/ underbody neons

If you don't have sideskirts......do the neons show a lot? What did you do to install in the front where the splash guards are?

Dude, don't listen to anybody giving you garbage. I have had underbody neons for a while now and I get a lot of compliments about them. As for your questions, the 2 side neons on mine show a lot. The Max doesn't have a good spot for the side neons though. There are 2 runner plates, I can only assume are there for if you bottom out, making sure you don't ruin your car. I drilled through those runners a few times on each side and mounted them there on the inside. About half the neon shows. It's a bummer, but oh well. As for the front neon, I cut away the first little bit (there is a bend in the plastic where I cut it). There are some places where you can mount them. Get some zip ties, that makes them easier to mount with. Good luck with the install.

Think about it. You have a maxima, not a civic. Why would you put something as terrible as Neons on/in your car? Maxima is a lux/sport sedan, so why ruin it with Neons that were made for ricers?

yes bud.....the sides show a bit but this is what I did to help it alot; The neons have a metallic looking shield on the top so what I did was tape the neon and paint that black (like my car) and went to the hardware shop and got some fencing L brackets made out of aluminum. I cut a little on the bracket and drilled the holes where I needed them and mounted the bracket under the car where the neons where originally. (proceeded to paint them black too) Then i bolted the neon to the bracket facing inside the underneath of the car so all you can see is a little bit of the brackets and neon if your looking underneath the car and of course its all black. When you light it up, it looks great because there is a nice glow underneath the car that lines up with the car instead of the light shooting off everywhere.

And I cut the skirts to mount the front neon. Works out well.

Yes, my post is going to get flammed for helping you out but this is what we are here for...to help those like you and me with 'bad taste'.

It's your car so do what you want and disregard what everyone else says. Personally, I don't like neon kits but if I was gonna put one on my car then this one would be the only one I would even consider. http://www.oznium.com/ufo?sid=bd2e6e...fa83d33aff22a2.

Yeah man... I really don't like underbody neons, but honestly, you could paint your car 10 different colors, have a wing thats 3 feet high, and a body kit that looks like a cow plow.. and if you really like it, that's all that matters... Don't conform to what people want you to put on your car.... I think neons look awesome, if its done right... but I wouldn't put them on my car...

hymm.....all that i know is that most show cars do have underbody neons. isn't that what a lot of us want? i mean, if he's starting at the neons, let him do it. It's like if you're wearing a flaming shirt that you thought was cool, everyone will flame you for it, but your response would be, its my body, i can wear whatever i like. well its his car, so he can put whatever he wants on it. by the way, it's kinda cool to have all the lights. people flash their hazards at you when they pass you when you guys are racing. i used to flash my underbody n all my strobes when i passed people. a lot better than hazards. but i wouldn't suggest underbody neons unless they're really cheap. like $50 bucks. mine didn't last more than a year, they stopped working n cracked from rocks n all that. i have a set right now brand new sitting in my garage, and i can't put them on cause my car is way too low for them. thinking of mounting them inside somewhere or wait to put them when i decide when i want to do my custom box

Well I like them! I might get some eventually. I get tired of hearing the "ricer" all the time! I have never heard that term apart from this website so I don't know what the big deal is. Maybe its cause I live in an isolated area, but around here they're pretty rare to see so I think they'd be kind of neat to have. If you like them, get them. You can decide whether you want them on or off - its not like you're pasting a huge decal across your car or drilling a massive spoiler onto your trunk.

I have them, but i have side skirts, you can't hide them unless you do some cutting under the car or you buy some kind of plastic you use to keep mulch around flowerbed, and screw that infront of the neon tube. but that would look odd if you did that. or you could cut a long piece of sheet metal the lengh of the side of the car and about 2 in. wide and weld it to the bottom of the car to hide the neon

do what you want, its your car, neons look nice IMO, i have some, i dont drive with em on but i light em up when parked with other people. i have a wireless kit that i can turn on with my key chain remote, it adds to the "wow"effect of the car, people are like whoa how'd u turn your lights on lmao ;-)

EDIT****

whats the point of having people bash the forum if there are no pics to bash lol, a lil somethin for the anti-ricers, notice my altezzas.

yea u can see the tubes pretty bad from the sides, only from far away tho.

Well...i installed them...but somehow the front one cracked on the inside....and i didn't hit anything. I'm assuming it was the way i installed them. What i did was remove all the clips and screws holding the splash guards. I then folded the splash guard up and stucke the neon in between the splash guard and the bottom lip of the front bumper (did this especially to protect the neon.) I don't know if during driving my bumper shakes excessively and it cracked it. What did you guys do differently?

That's where I put mine at because there is not much room anywhere else. For the sides I put electrical tape and zip tied it to the ends cause the tape won't stay long especially if it gets wet. Anything to anyone can be rice, sometimes there is a fine line. I don't drive with them on unless the rest of the car club is riding with them on and we are usually in a convoy. I also turn them on when we are showing the cars, most of the people I know that have them are show cars and they look good; almost everybody has rims and bodykits. There will always be haters that yell rice at everything.

hmmm...my front one went out after 2 weeks of installing it. It didn't crack it but it did make the bulb no longer light up all the way....it just lit up a little on the transformer end.

point being i think that the shakes on the car in the front is what is doing the neons in...i guess it could just be a coinsidence. i bought a replacement one plus an extra one just in case...so after i get em, we'll see how long it lasts.

Obviuosly there are mixed feelings in regards to neons.
To each their own.
I personally dont think they look right on cars that are basicly stock. No drop, stock wheels,no type of bodykit, plus a neon kit that screams," Hey look at me" just doesnt go together.
Show cars, yes. But their attention grabbers to begin with, the neons just draw a bit more attention.
When I see stockers with neons I think to myself," why did he they invest money on lights when it should go to something else?"

That Iceled UFO kit, makes the car look like a carnival.

sorry, but I find that very ummm... gay... maybe its just too rainbowy for my taste haha, but all aside I hold Maximas on a pedastal, I think it to be one of the better cars out right now especially the 4th Gen ones. thats why I wouldn't personally turn my car into a rice rocket... but to each their own, if u do decide to put neons, take some pics and post them (however it will probably be attacked at ur expense) Neons for the interior I believe should be the best choice for a Maxima

dude dont listen to the people dissing them I just took the neons of my camaro that I plan on putting on the maxima I will be getting. My advice if yo udont have them yet then get ground effects first and drop it if you havn't so you can Hide the neons better and just for an overall better look. See everybody compains about how they attract attention, but the cool thing is they come with a switch so you can only attract attention when you want 2. Do what you want to your car you look at it every day and you have to drive in it so if neons is your fancy then hook it up, but I'm sure you could find other things to, but your money into first, like performance

umm... if i read his thread post right... HE DIDNT ASK FOR OPINIONS!!! So why do we have all these retarded "rice" comments. For most ppl on the org, anything other than red/clears and simple 5 spoke rims is rice. Keep the rice comments to yourselves. And for all the haters out there, we dont give a crap if u "think" a cars rice.
