Hand brake light on

Hand brake light on

hey why is my hand brake light on, even though my hand brake isn't up. And when i start my car the first time after it sits for a while it makes like a grinding noise but if i turn the key slowly it starts up fine. wat the hell is going on

the hand brake is probably a faulty switch or wiring problem. (more than likely, the switch) the grinding sounds like ur starter.

1. The brake light on usually indicates low brake fluid. Check the reservoir. Don't blindly top off the fluid - the fact that the fluid is low indicates that your pads are wearing and more fluids are needed to extend the caliper pistons. Check the pads for wear. Once you have established that your pads are fine (or replaced them if necessary), then top off the fluid. (There is also the more unlikely possibility that you have a leak in one of the brake lines/hoses).

2. The screeching at startup is most likely your starter. Check the www.motorvate.ca for instructions on removing/re-lubing your starter.
