NYC roads keep destroying my front strut mounts

I have Eibach springs and Illuminas installed. I've had to replace my front strut mounts several times due to the harshness of the roads here. What are the best things I can do to not let this happen again?

Avoid potholes, slow down over bumps and potholes, find a better route to wherever you are going.

Have you shortened the bump stops so you get more strut travel?

If you have the OEM dust covers on, your struts are constantly impacting the bump stops which is putting a huge load on the mounts. They should be trimmed accordingly to allow the suspension to travel a bit more before it hits the stop.

And definately be a bit more carefull driving a lowered car on rough NYC roads.

You definitely should not be riding stock bump stops, I believe the directions that come with lowering springs (IF anybody decides to read them) tells how much you should trim off the stock bumps. Hopefully this helps.

buy a set of KYB dustboots (pre-cut bump stops) and be done with it... Tirerack has them for like $60 a set.

Either buy the urethane front strut mounts, or better yet get the Stillen camber plates.

if your springs come with directions it should tell you how much to trim. My s-techs came with instructions and for our cars you dont have to trim the front or rear at all.

Damn yo I am starting to get scared of modding my car. Staten Island also has crap roads. It's amazing how the roads change once you cross the Gothels. Nice and flat.

as long as your car is properly set you wont have to worry as much, just avoid pot holes and such. But if you dont have trimmed bumpstops you still can mess up you suspension on a mildly bad road depending on how badly setup the car is.

If you're running your Illuminas at 3 or above, try turning them down a notch or two.
