Burned out, car stuck in 3rd, OD light flashes...

The other day, I was messing around and slammed the gas while the e-brake was up. Well, I burned through 1st and second, and felt pretty good leaving behind that amount of smoke.

As I turned onto the side-street, I noticed no matter how hard I pushed down on the gas, it wouldn't shift out of 3rd. I pulled over, started the car again, got a bunch of flashes from my OD light.

Anyway, the car has been fine sense. I checked all the fluids that night, and it was running as normal.

My question is, did I freak out the ECU from the massive burnout, or did I cause permanent damage.

Yes, I'm a retard, but I have $$$ to replace the drivetrain if need be. I didn't but a 1997 car for it's reliability.

I've done the same on ice and on a cattle guard ... everything goes back to normal... what's the point of this thread if it's not acting anymore?

Reading about problems with ECU's (not that your having one) made me wonder if the jwt ecu upgrade is worth the money? I guess that is kinda directed towards NmexMAX. I am looking at getting a 97-99 fourth gen and any info (as much as possible) will help. Thanks.

It depends on what you deem as "worth it". I got mine mainly because of the increased rev limiter. But when i recieved it, I was surprised as it gave me gains nicely in the midrange, very noticeable. But it was pricey, and took a while to get back to me. In the end, it was worth it, but the price tag is heavy, and I'm a sucker for performance ... so it all depends on what you want out of your car also.

I did the same thing. but I actually red lien it in Neutral and pop it to drive
IMO there`s nothing to worry about if u`ve only done it once. :P
I checked the dip stick right after the OD light flashes and it started slipping, the fluid was burned and formed up big time. What i did was let it cool down for about half an hour, limped home.
It got a lot better the day after but still slips a little. Checked for ECU and tranny code but got nothin. so i changed the tranny fluid. I was too lazy to change it all out, so i only undo the plug and let whatever came out.
Been running fine ever since.

Is it a Nissan thing or what, coz i`ve done it in countless Toyota/ford/GMC/chevys (i use to work in a rental)and not singal one of them had this problem

Obviously you bought the wrong car in the first place. After you trash your 240SX, what are you going to buy then?

I didn't buy it. Why you gotta be like that? I still respect these vehicles due to their beastly motor. How would I trash my 240? You think I'm going to go drifting? I'm much more of a road racer.

What I was getting at is your insatiable desire to launch your car, hence the complaints about spinning the wheels. You will spin the wheels on a 240SX. What's launching a car got to do with being a road racer? Wear and tear on transmissions and clutches should be left to drag racers, not road racers, IMHO.

with the right rim and tire combo he wont spin the wheels unless hes got a rediculous amount of HP. On my old S13 i was running 275's on the rear with rolled fenders with 350 whp daily and it would break loose but u had to try to break em loose. btw is that a 350z or g35 trans your going to be using?

That's why I said 6M tranny ... X = no 6M trim.

And you just answered your own question as far as the trannys are concerned ...

How do you afford all that ... Sorry, I just took a mean shot of my hatorade a while ago ...

Wear and tear does not equal "trashed". RWD is superior to FWD in all performance situations including road racing. FWD pushes like a b!tch. When I get the blower there is no doubt I'll still spin them but it won't be as much spin.

Its a Z33 6MT.
