Considering the zaino products, and need to know if my 96 black max has a clear coat. Also, any feedback regarding the Zaino bros. product line is much appreciated.

Yes, it has a clear coat applied to the paint. Nissans of late are notorious for thin paint, so be careful.

Not that I know of... almost all cars made in the last decade have a clearcoat finish.

nah, i think its just certain colours have more layers of various coats. For example, the pearl white maxima has more coats than any other for some reason (probably to incorporate the pearl depth and general niceness of the white finish).

yes, there is a clear coat

I don't think you could buy a new car that would come without a clear coat. My 95 has a sticker inside the hood that states "refinish using hard clear coat" or something along those lines. Clear coat is used to protect the enamel beneath it as well as yield a shiny, glossy appearance the the enamel. However, you must protect your clearcoat with a quality wax. Beware products that contain abrasive. If the clear coat is in good shape (no excessive swirl marks or dullness) just use a pure wax such as Meguiars #26.

Good luck
