Is it worth changing the check engine bulb?
My check engine bulb and low washer fluid bulb are both out and I'm trying to decide whether it will be worht it to take the front dash apart to get to it. Are there any how-to's on this forum that show how you take the front dash apart to replace the bulbs? The Haynes manual decribes it as a very difficult job. Has anyone done the job that thinks differently? Thanks inadvance for your feedback...

You need to know what's going on with your car as much as possible. The CEL codes are important.
Now the low washer fluid bulb is not so important ... but since you should be in there anyway, you should go ahead and take care of that as well
CFC
Yeah I would definitely change those. the check engine is important and the washer fluid bulb...ehh not so important, but like CFC said its good to know at all times what is going on with your car. Good luck...and oh yeah it is really simple to take the dash apart. Just attempt doing it yourself...you will be surprised at how much you can actually do.

The bulb going out is NOT common.

What Mr. Rave said is correct. No one knows the size or type of the bulb. I tried to replace the bulb and not sure what size bulb fits. I called the dealership up and they don't have it in stock It'll cost $16 each and needs to be order. Best bet is to visit the junkyard for spare blubs.
I asked a fellow maxima.org member in the past what size is the bulb. He never got back to me. He changed the bulb from green to blue.
