Brakes rubbing...Help!!!

Im having a problem with my rear driver side pads. They are rubbing against the rotor. Just did the brakes a month ago but no problems. The other day my brakes were smoking...alot. So, i took the wheel off and pads out and re did everything but no change. Any help is appreciated, and please, dont tell me to bring it to a stealership.

I agree with above. Did it seem that you needed more force to twist the caliper into position on that side of your car versus the other side?

Two likely possibilities:
1) Siezed caliper
2) E-brake problem (siezed cable or other issue)

I wouldn't say they are a common problem, but it does happen frequently to higher mileage Maxima's, especially those exposed to salt or other forms of corrosion.

nah guys, calipers are 100% ok. I know what a seized caliper is like, and its definetely not seized. This baby spins right in!!

I think i figured it out from reading the motorvate.cu site. The one thing i overlooked was the glide pins. They need to be heavily greased or else it creates a situation where the pads get held against the rotor. Tommorow i'll check and update everyone.

I've also got a 95 GLE. About 130,000 miles. I just replaced my first caliper - it was definitely siezed as RUST was starting to form on the surface of my the rotor from it not making any contact with the brake pads!

I'm not sure if the two were related, but I first changed the caliper. Parking brake still didn't work (though the normal brakes now worked). So I changed the parking brake cable next. Everything is good now.
