New Sparkplugs: NEW WIRES?

I need to change my spark plugs. Do I also need new Sparkplug wires (harnes)
How much?

Also, if I want OEM Plugs should I get them from the dealer or can I get them from some auto part Store?

- Thanks.

NGK V-Power BKR5E-11 Copper Spark Plugs are way cheaper than the NGK platinums (http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaSparkPlugs)

We have coil packs so no wires...

You don't have spark plug wires. There's an ignition coil on each cylinder. You can get the plugs from an auto parts store as long as they are NGK Platinums (OEM), or NGK coppers which you would need to change more often.

So do I need to change the ignition coils? or is it enough to just change the plugs?

I want to buy the NGK Platinums, I believe they are $10 each at the dealer. Are those the same as the one in the auto part (are they cheaper on line?)

thanks.

This question has been asked in the last few days. I see you have only got 147 posts, but have been a member of this website for over 3 years and are asking the most basic of questions that by now, quite frankly, you should know the answer to.

Your engine does not have a distributor or spark plugs wires, it has coil packs that seldom need replacement. What makes you think you need new spark plugs? How many miles on your car and when were the spark plugs last changed? What kind of plugs are presently in the car?

What kind of plugs were you planning on buying? You should only use NGK - either copper which are good for 30K or platinum which are good for 60K.

Read the FAQs, the stickies and peruse threads or do a search to learn more about your car's engine and service requirements. Also buy a Haynes manual and become conversant about your vehicle's maintenance requirements by reading it.

Do not buy spark plugs from the dealer. Buy them from an auto parts store or on-line.

The platinums are the OEM plugs and are considerably more expensive than coppers. Again they last longer and consequently don't have to be changed as often.

NGK platinum - NGK PFR5G-11
NGK copper - NGK BKR5E-11

No, you don't need to change the ignition coils, unless one of them is causing a problem. If that happens, the computer usually sets a misfire code and you CEL will come on.

Thanks for the answers, and you are right, i should know know this basic stuff about my car; after 3 years, I just got around to it. I should probably do more reading.

To answer some of your questions: I have 110,000 miles right now, and I the car currently has OEM (NGK platinum) on it, but they are more than 60,000 miles old. The car is also feeling a little wearker than before, so I wanted to start doing some basic tune up.

Per your recommendation I'll buy the plugs from a local parts store, and try to take care of that today.

thanks.

If you have $10x6=$60 to spend on platinum plugs then buy them, but you'll be fine with coppers also (only ~$2 each)

If u got boatloads of money I guess you can buy from dealer... I know the only thing I ever get from the dealer is an oil change (only cause its free for lifetime on my car) Tho im not liking even that cause last I waited 1 hour for my oil change to be completed.
