windshield wipers: Brand?

My windshield wipers need replacement. The arms look old and paint on it is cracked (but mechanisim works fine, it just looks old ) I also need to put in new rubber on it.

Has any one used those PIAA ones? any noticible difference? I think they are about $60, any one thinks they are worth the price? Should I go with generic/OEM replacements?

thanks.

I got my car with one PIAA wiper and one Bosch wiper. They both seem to work the same and get the job done perfectly.

Do they work better than the OEM ones, in your oppinion is the price difference worth it?
(Where I live, it only rains a couple of months a year.)

There I cannot help you. I had my car for only 2 months and they had those 2 wipers on it. So I do not know how the stock ones compare.
But if you say it rains very little, I don't see why you wouldn't get the cheapest ones. Useless to waste money on PIAA if your not even gonne use them.

Bosch Micro-Edge are probably the best blades you can buy locally. However they are made of a soft compound which wears quickly. You will need to replace them in half the time you would the OEM Ancos. However their wiping ability is amazing, it took spray wax off my windshield without even leaving streaks.

I use ANCO, the aero ones. They cost like $3.47 or something at Wal Mart. When they go bad, just buy some more and throw them out. I used to use Bosch Micro Edge Excel, and they are a complete waste of money.

I just have some cheap Teflon blades from my local Mr. Lube shop. They are actually meant to be winter wipers, but I use them all year long cause they work great. They don't look the greatest (they're pretty thick) but they're effective.

I use rain-x wipers their middle of the road but when it rains they do the job. Its a wast to buy wipers more than 30 bucks.

I saw some bosch on AutoZone for about $12 each (so that would be $24 for the set), I still have OEM on the car, so if pay $25 and last me another 5 years, I think it would be ok.

The problem I have had with the Bosch wipers is finding just the rubber refills. I see the entire wire assembly everywhere, but never just the rubber inserts.

Walmart Anco... replaced once a year. IMHO, it doesn't pay to buy the expensive brands to keep longer.

I just bought a set of oem wipers from the dealer. They last longer and you can get refill kits for them from the dealer too.

for something thats so important does it really matter about buying them lets say once a year. If they work better than all the other ones Ill shell out 30 bucks a year. Im currently running bosch ones I picked up at autozone seem to work fine, but the rainx bug deflector windshield washer fluid kicks *** I must say, applies rainx everytime I use the sprays.

I bought a pair of Bosch. They did not work much better than any other windshield wipers, and cost much more. I typically buy AC Delco Winterblades. They are a few bucks cheaper than the Bosch and work just as well (if not better) and last longer.

I use the PIAA carbon fiber style super sporzas. I think really the only thing nice about them is that they look nice. I wouldn't say the wipers themselves work any better than any other wiper, and that the only reason I noticed a difference is because of the windshield prep pack that came with them with some sort of compound on it to cause the rain to bead-up on the windshield. But you can get that same effect for half the price by going with standard wipers and rainx bug deflector washer fluid

Oh by the way I forgot to mention you can remove your wiper arms and strip the paint and repaint them. Take a flathead screwdriver and pop the cap off on each one. Under that, if I remember right, is a 12mm nut on each. Remove that then pull and wiggle until the arm pops out. Use some aircraft stripper on the paint and sand a little of needed then apply new paint and reinstall the wiper arms

Bought the Trico InnoVision from Pep Boys back in October when they had them for 2/$10 after rebate (bought 2 sets) and I'm still on my first set. The ANCO crap from Walmart needed replacing everything 3-4 months (people are saying that the Walmart ANCO blades and ANCO blades at other stores are made in diff places and that's why the Walmart ones are crap)

Just bought the ANCO AeroVantage for my mom's Civic a few weeks ago and they also work great - will see how long those last. You missed the buy 1 get 1 free thing on them... http://mirror.pointroll.com/PointRol...9/RbtSprng.pdf

I can't remember exactly. They were like fifteen bucks a piece. Thats a little high but they do last longer and you can get refill kits for them when they start streaking for a few bucks.

I use TRICO Teflon blades (I think Costco is selling ones right now)..... used it for almost 4 years (honest ) and it's still 85% work (only few streaks).

The most annoying thing w/ these blades are the squeaking sound when they're brand new....
