My Bose system stopped working
My Bose system stopped working
My Bose system died. It just didnt start last time i cranked the car (and it doesnt start at all anymore). There seems to be no power running to the headunit at all, because i cant even eject my cd.
I checked the fuses in the kickpanel, and all related with the audio seem to be a-ok (along wth the rest). What in the world is going on? It just stopped working out of no where.
As anyone else experienced this problem? If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks in advance

Yea, it happens in most maxima's with bose. It happened to me last year and i had to get a knew head unit. Some people say if you un-hook the battery and then hook it back up the damn thing will work. Otherwise you might need to hit up best buy.
In my opinion the speakers are pretty good for what they're designed to do, it's the headunit that sucks. I'm sure most of you noticed that the Bose speakers put out much more bass than your standard stock speakers found in most other cars. They're not designed to be audiophile accurate though, they're designed to deliver spacious sound that fills up a room, car, etc... That's the goal behind their design so they are good at what they're designed to do. The midrange is where they shine and they do provide decent bass considering they're not subs, but it's the highs where they sound a little weak and compressed. I think if you're able to throw in some better tweeters, get a few subs of your choice, add a different crossover to use the tweeters for the highs, the Bose speakers for the mids and low mids, and the subs for the real low end, and get a nice headunit you could have a pretty damn nice system for not too much money.
Aside from that it's not unknown that there is much better stuff out there for the money (Polk comes to mind). I'm fortunate to have a max where the Bose unit hasn't crapped out on me yet, but I'm waiting because when it happens I will replace it with something better. When the whether gets hott and I've been playin the music fairly loud for a while I'll start to get white noise while playing cds though which is really odd and I have no idea what could be causing it. Maybe that means it's gonna crap out on me soon though, who knows...
