95/96 grille mod options

I've done the mesh, and its just gotten really old now, plus i think it makes my car look cheap. Thats the only modification option i've really seen as far as it goes for the 95/96 grille's.
has anyone else done anything maybe i havent seen? (And im not talking about swapping it for a 97-99 or buying a new grill all together).
i was thinking that since the grille is sort of a...grid, that i could dremmel out the little plastic bars going vertically and have just the horizontal ones.
i have seen some people on here with body colored grilles where its just horizontal lines, but as far as the mod done to just the stock 95 grille, i've seen nothing.
anyway, i'm thinking about doing it, and i just wanted to discover my options or hear waht anyone has to say about it. im also considering painting the black part body color, but i still dont know yet.
currently my grill isn't even in my car, because i'm lazy about it and its a b*tch to take out with that POS clip that holds that bar sticking off the back of it to the frame of the car, being so far back in that little hole and the clip itself is worn. Anyway, i actually like the look of just having a vacant space there. But of coarse seeing the horn, hood latch, and all that other crap the grille normally blocks its not attractive.

yeah, i agree, the mesh was like the first mod i did, so i'm definently grown out of it. i cant explain why i ever liked it. and it scratched up the inside of my grill putting it in too.

on my 96 grill, i just painted the NISSAN hamburger black so it matches the grill, it looks aftermarket and more aggressive, people have commented on how nice it looks.

I still have my mesh in but its painted a nice glossy black so its give a very aggressive look to the front of my car. I love it and definately looks better than the stock grill and much better than the Tenz or S5 grill.

i have the cattman aluminum billet grill, its nice looking, its not really for a 95 but w/e it fits, the latch to unlock the hood is kinda hard to get to, but other than that it looks nice, it makes it much more aggressive and the aluminum and metallic blue have a nicecontrast with eachother

this is a nice grill if I try to go for a new look I definately would keep this grill style in mind.

As for the trenz grill I think its too flashy and doesnt quite fit, but if it was painted body color I think it could look a lot better.

you could use an i30 grill without the emblem - looks custom and you can pick one up at the junkyard for cheap.

And when I get the car re-painted, it'll look like this:

The 97 grill is taller so you need to trim it down so you can fit it between the 95/96 bumper and hood. Naturally, when you do this and you decide to do a whole 97 front end conversion later on, you will need to get a new grill too.

what??? where's the burger inlay? is this that one off of e-bay? i can't remember who made a thread about it, but they were bummed and other people thought it looked good. where did you get that straight-bar one? i want!!! and how'd it fit your 95-96 bumper? I LOVE THE LOOK!

That's impossible. The 97 grill is at least 1" taller. The clearance between the hood and bumper of the 95 is too short. That grill you are talking about is probably trimmed already. Other orgers have done this mod on their 95/96 maximas and they all had to trim some off the 97 grill. Even after trimming, the latch is still hard to get to.

Here's a how-to in the Mod FAQs: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....6&page=2&pp=30 .

It's amazing what one can find just by going to the stickies. Don't ask anymore questions on how to fit a 97+ grill on a 95, all answers can be found in that thread, just read the entire thread.

That is my photochop version. I do everything in photoshop first for exterior/styling mods that way I have a good idea as to what it will look like before even spending time into the process. If the idea looks whacked, then I won't bother with the mod.

In order to accomplish the straight bar, you need to cut off the part where the emblem attaches to, then sand it down. Then use some body filler to cover up the indent where the emblem used to sit on. I'm also going to be doing some extra stuff on the 97 grill that I haven't seen anyone do yet to date. I won't do a 97 conversion on the bumper but I also plan on doing something different with it. I already have a good idea as to what it will all look like when its done and I like it.
