Alright, I know. The thread is 3 years old, and the OP doesn't even visit the site anymore, but I have the same question as the OP . The car is a 95 gle. The guys who did my heater core advised me that I have to change my evaporator (and I would assume the expansion valve as well). They told me that the dash has to be removed again; basically the labor is similar to that of the heater core replacement. I can't pay for that labor all over again, so I'm looking for some insight here.

I've been searching up on this, and some posts say that the entire dash has to come out, while others write that you can access and remove the evaporator by pulling out the glove box. I haven't attempted replacement yet, but I'm just looking for any input from people who know about this stuff before I dive into it. If I can replace this thing without ripping the dash apart, I'd be ecstatic!

It's warming up over here, and I don't think I can deal with 3 more months of this!

Thanks fellas.

What's the difference? The guy had 0 replies and I have the same question. Why start a new thread? But thanks for the worst post ever.

start with taking out the center console, then glove box, then gauge cluster, pop out the side vents, then you should be able to see most screws holding the dash down, feel around for the rest.

evap core is behind the glove-box... remove that and you have access to it... DO NOT take out the dash and or console.
