slipping tryanny?

quick question. my tranny just started doing this last week. when i go from park to drive and start going my first gear wants to hold until above 3,200rpms or so. i am not getting on the throttle hard or anything it just takes forever to shift. the other gears seem to be better but sometimes when i get on the highway other gears hold for a bit longer as well. my fuel economy has gone way done also. i dont know if it has anything to do with how hot it is here in texas now but does anyone have any suggestions.

Get to a transmission shop. Its clear that if your revs quickly shoot to 3,200rpm, that there is something slipping. Its hard to diagnosis a transmission slipping problem with an automatic transmission. My guess is a worn torque convertor.

<i agree with loe max...espcially with an auto it is hard to identify a clear culprit. going to a dealer would be the best bet i would say, maybe not the cheapest but they will do it right.

I don't have an automatic. However, I can't understand why anyone would go to the dealer for a tranny problem. Aren't there a multitude of transmission shops available who can adequately fix the tranny at a significantly lower cost than the stealership? Would you send someone for a brake job to the stealer as well, I don't be thinking so!

I know it sounds basic but check the fluid level. This can cause delays in shifting.
