the check engine light was on for an hour yesterday. this morning it goes away. do i need check it immediately with mechanics or wait and see for a while? is it possible that something went wrong and then fixed itself?

also i messed things up when trying to find the code. don't know if this accidentally cleared the code. i turned the selector like more than 2 rounds (didn't feel any "stop" as on the manual) this way and that many times, and got 0505, meaning "No Failure Recorded/Detected". how much shall i turn the selector? is 0505 possibly an outcome of my erasing the real code?

Next time the code is on why dont u just take ur car to a place that can check codes for you for free, like an autozone or whatever is near you.
