brake problem??

so i'm driving home from work today on the highway when traffic started getting bad. i went to slow down and nothing happened. i started pumping the brakes and i could feel pressure start to build up and the car started slowing down. after that the brakes felt really mushy for most of the rest of the trip home requiring pumping to get the car to stop. then a little before i got home the brakes returned to normal. when i got home i checked the brake fluid and it was fine and i couldn't see anything wrong with any of the brakes so i'm completely confused.

if u try to double brake, the first time should be mushy than second time. this is normal. if your brake fluid is low, u mite be leaking pressure. if not, maybe ur just a bit sensitive about it. i wouldn't trip...
