IIRC on 40 degree days, the needle starts moving within 30 seconds and is almost near the 1/4 mark within 5mins. I don't let my car sit and I drive it carefully right away until I see the needle start to move upwards.

The Maxima's ECU is designed to speed up warm-up times to keep emissions to a minimum.

on hot or cold days, I usually wait until the needle starts moving off the C mark

heres a quick question...is it better for the engine if you let it warm up before you start driving it?? I have always just started my car and gone. The only time i have seen anyone of my friends/family warm up there engine before they drive is when its REALLY friggin cold out and they want their car to be warm.

I usually wait til the needle goes under 1rpm, thats usually about the same time the needles starts movin up, so I would say around 10 min max..
