clutch wear???

So I took my car out after work to run some quarter miles with my new Y-Pipe and I must say I'm a little disappointed, not with the Y-pipe, but with my clutch.

When I would let it out, it wouldn't grip fast enough, At first it gripped well and I got alittle wheel spin, but once it warmed up I couldn't even get the wheels to chirp. I could feel the clutch sluggishly spooling up all that power to the wheels but it wasn't fast enough, my best 0-60mph time was over 8 seconds!!

Is this a common sign that the clutch is worn, or is it something else like the master cylinder or something in the tranny??

thanks ahead of time guys

How often do you run these 1/4 quarter mile times? When I was considering buying my Maxima way back in '94, I read that the Car & Driver test drivers of the 95 Maxima burnt a clutch out in less than 40,000 miles. I guess they were driving the car like they stole it, since they didn't own it. You may well have a clutch problem.

I have never launched my 5-speed once and anticipate the clutch will last for several years to come.

What do you expect when you flog the car like a rented mule?

I ussually take it pretty easy on my car, I don't beat it

I just like to feel all that power I put my blood, money and time into once in a while.

I'm going to reset the ECU once i'm outta work today to clear out those codes that have been lurking around for a while (hopefully the new coil packs fixed that)

but I do ussally take it pretty easy on my clutch, not to mention my new tires, I'm not wanting to eat those up, so i keep the wheel spin down to a minium

any other thoughtful insights??
