Since I've never heard of a non stock maxima transmission I'll say it's fine. Besides a cutch and flywheel what else can you do?

Well actually not to get to crazy, but you can have all the gears cryo treated, or if you want to get crazy you can have dog gears but or have the trans bullet-proofed. SO there can be a built tranny but most people would rather spend there money on go fast parts then making parts that fail frequently, stronger. I havent done it yet but it is on my list of things to do. But back to the point of this thread, yes you will be fine with an exedy clutch. Just dont do any clutch drops at 6000 rpm to many times otherwise you will just strip the final drive gear, and also first and second gear are very weak.

Oh yeah forgot about the EXPENSIVE stuff. There are tons of people with more power holding clutches on the org, what percentage of them have what you listed done?

None, I am just saying that in the long run if you want to put big power, and by that I mean 400-500hp down to the wheels you are soon going to run into tranny problems. Now yeah sure you can pay 300-400$ every 4-6 months and just replace your tranny but for me I would say spend the money and get some good tranny work done and then you will have no worries and can address some of the weaker points on the maxima. But with his set up he will be just fine a heavy duty clutch should not effect the transmission at all unless he just abuses the car.

I agree with everything you said. With me though, let's say I have the trans out for a clutch job, I might as well send it out to get it cryoed and peened to have it done ahead of time.
