clutch

well im in the process of changing my clutch and eating general's chicken but i need to know..do you have to pull out both axles to get the the clutch or just the drivers side...if you dont have to pull out both then are there any dangers with pulling out just one. trying to save myself some trouble. i did read through the stickies and didnt find what i needed although i might be blind.

You are better off removing both becuase of the risk involved when you are gonna put back the tranny and you left the passanger axle on. But again...its your choice.

from what I"ve read you risk tearing the boot if you only remove the passengers side.

I dont know if the boot can tear on the pass axle, but I know when you try to put the trannyback on you might knick the diff bearing with the axle's shaft trying to line up the tranny. Its not worth it IMO, I took out both axles. Its easier to line up the tranny into place when you only have to deal with the inputshaft and the dowel pins IMO

Tell me what would be better for the person under the car benching up a tranny that weight 107 lbs; trying to line up the input shaft and the dowel pins? or input shaft, dowel pins, AND the pass axle and trying not to knick the differential bearing in the process?

Ok then. Its not worth it to be lazy about it and not remove the pass axle trying to save time, when its only going to be an added hassle come assembly. That's all I'm saying
