Windshield Wipers Don't work.. Its going to rain!

Hey Everyone,

I had to take off the wiper arm assembly to repaint them again. I placed them back on and was able to use them for a few times.. Then when I went to go use them half an hour ago, they worked but then froze at the top.
Anyways, when I turn on the wipers, I can hear the motor but nothing moves.. Any ideas? Its going to rain soon and I need help!!

Thanks!!!

Take off the windshield wipers and see if you can physically see the mounts move back and forth when you turn on your wipers.

You must have screwed up the linkage from the motor to the wiper arms... disconnect everything and start from the motor and check each piece carefully.

looking straight at the engine bay, the wiper motor assembly is located on the firewall side, top left, is held on by 4 bolts I think and has a black motor casing sticking out to the side pointing to the right. By the way, if you can hear the motor going and the wiper blade isn't working, check the linkage, they might have popped out of place.

As disgruntled said - also get yourself a Haynes manual - it will help you with locations of various parts and their removal/replacement.

This assumes that the motor is still good at this point. Good luck. The actual service manual is much better than the Hayes for this.

Thanks!! THe haynes didn't really do much justice either. The issue that I found was that the pivot arm was coming off of the little knubby in the middle of the arms that make the wipers go up and down. Thought it was an easy fix but nope. It still slips out. I even bought the bushings for it but still nothing.. Anyways.. looks like noone else has experienced this.. So.. off to the mechanic I go unfortunately.. and yes.. its still broken..

Only a guess but you may have put the arms back on in the wrong spot so when they get to full revolution they are binding thus popping off at the weakeast point the pivot ball, I 'd suggest removing the wipers arms, pop the pivot ball end back on and run the motor, does the pivot pop off at this point? If it does the arm from the motor to the pivot may have somehow got bent. If no then the arms were either sticking or binding, turn the motor off at the switch, this should have returned them to the bottom of the run, re install the wiper arms at the bottom and try again, if that dpesn't work...........

Good luck
