any suggestions on a clutch???
hey guys..i have a bit more than 89k on my lakeshore blue max. will be needing a clutch soon...but i think it will last another 5k miles =] its the original clutch so yea...lots of mileage on it.
i been looking around for clutches and dont know what to choose from the few. i need something that can last long and performs very well. i was considering the following:
ACT stage 1
ACT stage 2 (might boost)
SPEC 2
JWT
Unorthodox racing ultra G ceramic (not sure which one)
thats about it..anyone have any of these??? and can tell me how they are? thanks!!!

I had an ACT stage 1 on my old 300ZX and I loved it. I have an exedy stage 1 now, and I hate it. ACT's are good, but if you aren't going to boost, you might look into a 5th gen clutch, those have gotten really good reviews here on the org, and you can get them for around $200.

I had and act stage 1, I liked it for the 50k miles that itlasted. When I looked at it , it was really toe up. I don't think I would get another one. I went with the clutchnet pressure plate and the fiber carbon pro and fidanza and I like it but it takes some getting used to a stock feeling clutch pedal

act stage one or two depending on your driving.....
Whatever u do stay away from UR clutches, had two different clutches from them and both had the same misfortune of having the rivets seperate from the pressure plate/hub due to a malfunctioning press at the plant...
both times the car was on the road merely days after installation. 7 days the first incident, then 10 days the second time... finally aftering many argument/conversations between me,my mechanic and the people at UR they sent me a replacement ACT stage 2 clutch...
Im not discrediting UR pulleys which i have on my car.
personally id say go with a fidanza flywheel...personal preference

If you are staying N/A OEM is the only way to go. There is NO REASON to get an expensive aftermarket clutch if you are gonna stick with simple bolt ons. an OEM 5th gen kit will cost you about $200, will give you more than enough grip and will last longer than any aftermarket clutch you can buy.

here are the part numbers:
t/o bearing: 30502-41U20
pressure plate: 30210-89F00
clutch disk: C0100-6E600
look for these parts here: http://www.jerryromenissan.com/en_US/ print them out and take it to your local nissan dealer and they should honor the price, or you can order strait from that site. it will bolt right in with no modifications.

I have a 5th gen clutch in mine as well. I already have over 1k miles on it. The grip is really good and I'm having fun driving my 5 speed again. 2nd gear is really strong. I'm not boosting or will ever think of boosting. However, I'm probably going vq35 by next summer.

Since you are already in there, I'd suggest replacing your rear main seal for peace of mind. You'll never know when that will go bad and you'd be kicking yourself if months down the line, the car starts a leak from there. Mine was already leaking badly so I replaced it. Other than that, those are the parts you need. Oh and don't forget the alignment tool if you are doing this yourself.

Many people use Fidanza. However, I was talking with a Nissan master mechanic (who did up HndaEtr's turbocharged Maxima) last weekend at a local meet and he recommended JWT. No chatter whatsoever but it does make your starter sound different which is normal for JWT.

I just installed an ACT heavy duty clutch kit (Stage 1) on my 98. I find the pedal effort to be perfect. The stock clutch pedal was too light IMO, but that's my taste, not yours necesarily. I purchased the kit for ~$400 shipped, which is not outrageous, and it's rated for ~360lb tq, which leaves you plenty of room to play around.
Just remember, the decision is YOURS to make. Do what makes you happy. When I ordered my kit, the person on the phone actually tried to swing me away from ACT because he claimed they were garbage. I've driven 3 different applications of ACT stage 1 clutches, and all of them felt great. So I don't think you'de be going wrong by going with ACT.
But that's just my humble opinion.

I do maybe 30-40% of city driving and I have no trouble with it.
The pedal feel is firm and there is more effort. No one has ever asked me if I have a performance clutch when riding in my car normally. Now when I chirp 3rd and have no nonsese engagement . . . .
