suggest a color..

im thinking of painting my center dashboard panel.
i can't decide which color..
my max's interior color is dark brown and the centre piece is stock black.(no paint)
i don't want to use a 'wooden dash kit'. anyone has pics of their painted center panel with the brown interior?

thats not mine, just saw this pic online so thought id post it to give u all an idea about the interior color----- i don't like that wooden kit! looks weird!
And errr..... my steering wheel isnt black either, its the same color as the dashboard.

any other good suggestions???

Depends on what you want. Check out my cardomain... I painted mine gunmetal, I have yet to see another person paint their dashboard the same as mine. But, I also have the black interior, not the brown. I've seen carbon fiber dash kits and if I had a brown interior, that would be the route I would follow most likely.

Go for a darker shade of brown...I think that would match best without looking out of place.

hey i'm dealing with the same dilemma. i'd love to switch to a black interior but that sounds like a pain in the ***.
black would be okay, but i think i like the woodgrain on the cetner console better than plain black.
there's so many options, it just seems like everything goes better with black.

IMO the carbon fiber kit looks great on the tan interior. If you don't want to spend the money on a kit, I would try out the gunmetal color like enjoyincubus suggested.

Yea I had wood grain, and yes, I painted over it. It's not hard... same thing as painting over any other colored dash I guess... just clean it, sand it down (I used 600 grit), clean it again, dry it, prime, then paint it (I used 2 coats).

What color is the exterior of your car? Try that color, since it will probably go well with your interior color.

dont they have vinyl dyes out there somewhere. might be easier than painting. painting the whole dash would be a pain in the c o c k. not to mention that the car would be undriveable for at least a week, if you factor in disassembly, several coats of paint, and reassembly. youre better off just painting the console, or buying a dash kit in a color instead of woodgrain.

I too have that BROWN dash AKA "mutmeg brown with a hint maple"
You could paint the Aluminum look, but there are affordable "stick on" kits on ebay.

I like the dark brown idea except, itd hardly be a change.
Plus that piece of leather insert on the door panel only comes in khaki and black, right?

Just paint it the same way... why would anybody want to paint their dashboard? If you want to replace your brown one just go to a junkyard or something and pick up a black dashboard.

I think in designer language, dark brown is now referred to as "chocolate" or "mocha". Maybe instead of painting it you should replace it with brushed aluminum
