Had the best day of my maxima loving life yesterday

I sold my 1995 GLE Maxima with 143k Miles, a very dirty car, for $4500. This was 9am. By 6pm, I had dropped $8k cash on a 1999 5spd Maxima with 50! thousand miles!! The car was owned by elderly and they want to buy another new car. It is cleaner than I will find at any dealer, and has been babied since the day it was born.

In short, I am a very happy man. Now i need to learn how to drive a stick shift better than my current 5spd "poor skill".

Well show some pride of ownership with this car so it doesn't become "a very dirty car" like your 95GLE. There is no excuse for that, other than laziness and stupidity.

Sorry, I'm not a mind reader. I'm sure a detailer could have improved its appearance, unless the paint was fubar and if it was it begs the question, why did you buy it in the first place?

Sold a Max and bought one the same day. Good luck with the new low milage Max. Save up for those coil packs.

, , and

Coil packs can be expensive, budget for that right now. Once you learn how to drive, you'll be loving rowing the gears!!!

Well I guess I have to in this case as he insists the car was "dirty" to begin with, which may be the truth but who knows. The message I was trying to convey was keep your ride clean and well maintained. :attention

Yeah, what's wrong with a cali-spec? Other than the extra o2 sensors there's nothing really different. Am i right?

No sunroof, no deal! The 99 is probably the slowest 4th Gen of all and of course there is the coil pack issue.

That is one of the dumbist things I have ever heard. Do you think before you type? How in the hell is one year slower than another. They are exactly the same. You don't own a 99 and you are talking sh** about it. I have a stock 99. I have raced my brother in his 97 with a full cattman intake and exhaust. We were neck and neck. Both my brother and I are good drivers, so it wasnt a driver issue. My point is that you dont have to be so up tight and talk **** to people. You obviously have nothing better to do than try and insult others on the board. Relax and let him be happy about his purchase.

Go into www.car-stats.com and read the data on 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. It is common knowledge that a stock 95GXE is the fastest 4th Gen Maxima straight out of the factory. You better make sure you know what you are talking about before you start hurling insults next time, noob!

There is no mention about the 99 max on that site! This post is about a 99 max and not a 95. Where are the stats showing the 99 as the slowest? Just because I'm not a post ***** like you doesnt mean Im a noob. So quit talking out of your *** and show me some stats proving that the 99 is the slowest 4th gen.

You, sir, are an idiot. I said the 99 is probably the slowest 4th Gen Maxima. I did not state definitively that it is. There was a recent thread on this subject and the consensus of opinion was that the 95GXE was the fastest 4th Gen and the 99 the slowest. I will let others chime in. They may be less tolerant of your insulting, inflammatory behavior than I am. Chill out. Just because you aren't old enough to get in a bar doesn't mean you have to go through life with a chip on your shoulder.

I dont have a chip on my shoulder. Im just calling you out on your worthless posts. The guy is excited about his purchase and you called him stupid and lazy. It seems to me that you have the chip. If you read all of the things YOU have posted on this board today you will see that 95% of it is negative and worthless. Have you ever heard the saying "If you cant say something nice dont say anything at all."? Im sure there a lot of people here that wish you would take that to heart. Calling me names only shows how you are.

How the hell is him being from Canada of any relevance?? If Canadians are so edgy and rude..why do YOU americans hide your "americanism" when travelling abroad?? Ive been around and yea americans are definitely liked

You been to Rocky Point? They love us Americans down there, lol.

Rmurdoch, you sound like an old grumpy man IMO.

Tight car man, makes me want to buy my next maxima NOW. Buying a new Maxima is one of the better feelings in life

I congratulated him on post 13, everybody, so cut me some slack. I also clarified my position about the cleanliness of the car after he said he bought it "dirty" (see post 14). I chimed in on the subject of 99s after others surfaced their overall opinions on 99s.

Have a nice 4th of July! Obviously the knowledgeable .orgers are off drinking beer somewhere or they would have chimed in by now as to which 4th Gens are fastest and which are slowest. I will be vindicated in due course.

What's wrong with Canada?

Anyway, looks like you got a good deal. Does it have traction control? I personally love my 99, its definitely fast enough for me, and I haven't had any problems with my coil packs. I know my manager at work had to replace his coils and it wasn't very expensive...he did it himself though. Enjoy the car...I want to learn stick too! I might convert whenever my tranny goes.

99 maxs have cali fed spec restrictions..every year got more and more restrictions...95 was the quickest..then 96..you get the idea..anyway..i may not be knowledgable..but i back up rmurdoch a little bit...on the other hand..who cares..a newer car is newer..better than an older one i guess..as long as the person who buys it like it...it doesnt really matter what anyone else thinks..but good catch man.
