need opinions from people with either flowmaster or dynomax mufflers

im getting exhaust soon and ive narrowed down my rear section choices between either a flowmaster or a dynomax. so for those of you that have either whats your impressions of your muffler. if you could go back would you get it again? also those with flowmasters what series did you go with?

and if anyone has sound clips that would really be helpful

lol, i'm in the same situation as u are in.

down to either apexi ws2 or magnaflow street series but leaning towards apexi. i heard dynomax is pretty quiet actually but i see them as one of the cheapest. since u have a 96, i would go w/ greddy but thats ur choice

Im quite happy with my Dynomax, but it isnt exactly that quiet. It just wont be as quiet when compared to the stock muffler.

Some people with flowmasters have complained of some raspiness. As far as I know most are happy with dynomax if they're looking to keep things fairly quiet. But another choice you may want to consider is a Borla...similar in sound to a flowmaster but not as much rasp and it's made of much better material (T-304 stainless steel). I have one and can hook you up with a few soundclips if you give me your email address

If those are without a y-pipe then you will hate it once you get one. If the y-pipe is already on it's pretty quiet.

I have a Flowmaster 40 Series with a budget y-pipe and magnaflow resonator. Without the resonator it was really loud, but it sounded good to me. I don't really like my exhaust very loud, I had an RSX-S muffler on before and I might get that put back on. You can't hear the exhaust tone at 3,000RPM till redline. It's not as loud as the coffee can mufflers though. I would get a clip but I don't have a digital video camera.

does the series really matter for flowmaster mufflers? because on their site they say the 60 series is more for 4 and 6 cylinder cars but ^he has a 40 and other people have put on an 80 i think so does it matter?

flowmaster is toooo loud! i have a wp y pipe with a dynomax resonator and a flowmaster 40 series! at first i was rollin around without the resonator and man! was it super loud! couldnt even hear my system hardly! so i got the resonator and it went down a notch but its still too loud. I look forward to gettin the dynomax turbo muffler. has anybody heard of puttin a silencer in a flowmaster muffler?

I don't think the flowmaster is any louder than the other universal ones like the Dynomax. I've had my flowmaster for about 4 months and now I'm getting tired of the sound level. Initially, I had an HAI which made everything loud. I went back to stock intake and the noise level went down a bit. I liked it for a while just hearing the flowmaster but now I'm totally tired of it. I don't have a resonator either. Anyhow, I would love to be able to somehow fit a 350z or G35 muffler on my Maxima. They are quiet but growl at WOT. That would be perfect. Anyone know of a good aftermarket equivalent?
