Don't they send the cars to an auto detailer and get the engines steam cleaned? I get my car profesionally detailed for a birthday present every year, but haven't bothered to ask how they clean the engine. All I know is that my engine is very clean now and it was last cleaned almost a year ago.

steam gun is what they used. I used to work at a dealer, but no matter what you do a used engine will not look like a new engine

I would argue that statement. My motor is bling bling when I clean it. Looks better than cars on the lot. Thats just me though so...
Forget the armoral, that shiat just attracts dirt. I have found this stuff called 303 aerospace. It is sold in boating stores such as boaters world. After cleaning and drying your motor spray 303 on everything under the hood EXCEPT your belts. Its like a moisterizer for your rubber and plastic stuff. It is great for all interior things as well. This stuff has spf 40 sunblock in it and really makes a big difference and last along time. Yes spray it on your intake manifold aswell, It will make everything look good. I cleaned a guys motor on his 25th aniv firebird and used this 303, he got a trophy for cleanest car!

If you're lazy...just go get some Armor All cleaner. Get a nice hard bristle toothbrush for those small areas and some cheap shop towels. Spray everywhere and a little elbow grease..Your engine will be much cleaner.

+1 on the 303. I've been using it for almost 3 years now.

go to advance auto or some place like that and buy some purple power and spry your whole engine compartment with it then just take the pressure washer and blast all the dirt out of there...just be careful of intake, alternator, any exposed wires
