Exhaust Experts

Yesterday, there was a post about quiet mufflers. It was determined that the muffler adds no performance to the Maxima it just is looks and tones.
I have a 2.5 full Cattman exhaust and I love the sound on it. I put my stock muffler on it yesterday because of the discussions to see how different the sound was. It is soooo quiet. Here is my question. If I am going from the Cattman 2.5 mandrel bend pipeing to the stock muffler, is that affecting the power output on my car? Is the smaller muffler pipe bottle necking the exhaust flow? Please let me know your opinion.

yea you will lose some flow but we dont gain much from a catback exhaust anyways so i wouldnt really worry about it.

prolly 1-2 hp if anything....especially if the muffler has smaller diameter tubing.....but overall its not much of an effect on a N/A car......but i like a nice deep tone so thats y i have a straight thru.....i am the opposite of u.....my muffler goes up in diameter from 2.5" piping to 3" muffler

One would think it would be better to have the bottleneck (smaller diameter tubing) more towards the front of the exhaust system. Since this bottleneck is towards the back (muffler area) this may lead to more lost HP than 1-2 due to the larger buildup of gases trying to escape.
