parcel shelf brake light removal

i'm trying to change the rear speakers in my 97 gxe (non blose) and the parcel shelf brake light is my downfall - can't figure out how it comes off.
could someone please tell me the secret. thanks

pry it out, it's a ***** but it'll come off.

mine slides off easily? just wiggle it left and right and it should pop off...
