Thats the one... I just put in a new nissan one for $10.

The ES bushings are different... They go on the pivot on the support (not control) shift rod.

You would think so... but going with a new oem nissan one would be just right!

Yeah, I have put about 30 miles on my B&M 1,2,4,R are pretty easy... 3 and 5 can still be a little b!tch sometimes... They should wear in like the others though.

The way I understand it, there are several bushings along the shift rods and support. When these bushings are cracked, shifting becomes sloppy or notchy because those rods start to flex as you apply pressure on it while shifting. With new stiffer bushings, shifting becomes smoother because the flex is not there when you throw the shifter into a gear, notchiness virtually disappears. Now with shorter shifter, shifter leverage changes as well as the throw (if its a STS), shifting might get notchy.

shifter bushing

exactly what is different? Aren't both poly bushings(that go in the same place and do the same thing)? Any physical differences?? What is specific advantage of $45 bushings vs $5 ????

$45 TE mount is made of polyeurathane. The $10 NISSAN mount is made of rubber. Other than that, they are identical. The $5 ES bushings are something completely different... They go in the shift support rod pivot.

They are in completely different places. I don't have my eFSM with me, but here.

shift rod: tranny input-----------------------------------shifter
support rod: ----()------------------------------------[]

The () is where the ES bushing goes. If you have ever changed your MT fluid then you know right where this is; the bracket that makes accessing the drain bolt so difficult holds this up. It is part of the pivot point between the tranny/engine and the shifter. There is NO ES shifter bushing for listed 5 spd maximas. The one for a 02-03 6psd Maxima DOES NOT fit. The one for a 91-94 sentra (don't quote me on year) will work, but it has to have the stud thing cut/drilled out and you have to replace the stud with a bolt/nut. I believe BlackbirdVQ was the one to first try this in his 5th gen. He posted about it in one of the ES engine mount threads.

The T E T bushing goes [] since it is where the support rod that holds up the shifter bolts to the frame towards the rear. It is a modified stock bushing that is filled with polyurethane. Both would make for really crisp shifter feel, but the T E T one would probably make a bigger difference since it has more play in it and it is closer to the actual shifter. If you know how to fool with polyurethane then you could probably make one yourself, but honestly it is worth $45.

I have an ES bushing sitting at my house, but I haven't installed it yet but I will soon. I did install the T E T bushing and I can say it did make a difference even with the stock shifter, but I hope to have my B&m once the upcoming SCO GD goes through then I will be able to compare to my friend's shifter with his b&m with stock bushing.

Here's a pic I got from Pinnacle Nissan... the two rods mentioned are shown here. Everything else should make sense. If you need a better picture, perhaps you should get yourself a Nissan FSM or a Chilton/Haynes manual.

This pic is for the wrong part, this is the shifter. The parts mentioned are the shift and support rods which runs along the underside of the car from the shifter mount to the tranny input. The bushings that are on those rods are the ones being discussed.
