CV joints

I was trying to change my oil when I noticed that my right CV joint was covered in a thin layer of grease, there was no grease on any of the suspension parts around it and I haven't noticed any sounds coming from it.

Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm about to enter my first year of college and money is a weee bit tight.

yeah... I noticed that when I bought my car and made the mistake of letting it go(lack of money). Eventually you will get the dreaded 'clicking' noise from them which is a constant reminder to get them replaced.

Clean and check the outer cv boots on both sides for any cracks or holes.

If there are, get them replaced asap.

If you let dirt get into the joints eventually they will fail and you'll need to replace the whole axle.
