yes you can still do the needle LED mod with the guages because these guages only iluminate themselves, the needles are still illuminated by the 194 bulb on the back of the cluster. as for the blue center part, you could TRY and open up the back of the indeglo guage and disconnect the center. the backs are only covered by a thin black layer of plastic. and as for the needles sticking. use double sided scotch dape, the real thin stuff, and i also used a glue stick. when i had my guages on they had no problems with sticking.

Is it common for the needles to stick after doing a led mod to them

only way to get your needles to stick after putting LEDs under there is if you jammed an LEG right up against the rod that holds the needle, or if you have an LED pushing up on the back of the guage face.

I had problems with them sticking also, the solution I came up with was where the needle is connected to the middle round piece and hold it in place, take some sand paper to the round piece underneath it and file it down so it gives you more clearance above new faceplates. worked perfectly and no more sticking.

ive never seen the indeglo guages where it has a switch that can turn off the center, but just because I have never seen it doesnt mean its not out there somewhere. and even tho you dont have the 194 bulbs doesnt mean you cant do an LED mod, oyu just have to do something to the back of your cluster i think. there is a write up on here somewhere, i just cant remember hte name of hte guy who did it.

You looking for something like these?

Reverse indiglo gauges, without the indiglo halo. That is a crappy pic from my cardomain website, I have a better one which I haven't uploaded yet. If you want it, PM me your e-mail address.

I'm not usually a fan of indiglow gauges, but those are pretty tight.

there is no guage for 98 or 99 that dont have the center glow. the older 95-97 have it due to they dont have the Digital part. i have looked as i had the reverse IGs on my old 96 and loved the look of them... for us all there is is LED mod or deal with that ring

Where can I get those gauges for 98 max with center glowing?
I've been looking everywhere and coudn't find it?
After installing LED interior, I need brighter gauges because you can barelly see them at night. Thats how dull they are compare to LEDs.

No, but I liked many mods that he did. I guess I just have the same taste as him.
By the way I'm not even trying to compare arrafio to me, I got no mods at all.
Tailight mod can not be explained with few words. I think there is no "how to" on how to make it.
Killer95max made a set for me, and I think Kevlo... made sets for org. So you could try talking to them about it.

a few years ago those guages were so easy to find... i bought my set from Custom Maxima......I mean now Custom Enterprize, but they stoped selling them shortly after i bought a set for my 96 and bought a set for my friends 99. now its true you can barely find them at all any more.

I plan on changing all the bulbs to LEDs in the guage cluster. more work but just as good

l3ftonm3, you're absolutely right, exact same setup but I'm not happy with the brightness of the inverted 194 blue LEDs. So I'm planning on getting 4-LED (or more) bulbs. Don't have to worry about hotspots since the reverse indiglos cover the face.

I got mine from Ebay (procarparts), but you might find it cheaper on ebay as they sell there too.
Exact gauges that I have

I think all indiglo gauges will hum, just an FYI for you, I've got mine packaged quite deep within my dash so it's not so noticeable but then again, I spent a whole afternoon figuring out the location of the transformer, the wiring and a good location for dimmer switch

pocketrocket, its either I'm blind or you are. Procarparts has no gauges at all for a 98.

Oops, sorry. I'm mistaken. Mistook the 89 for a 98. Long day. Post edited.
