Here is what I did....

1) Remove stock shift ****
2) Remove the stock Boot
3) Put the car in a gear (preferably 4th)
4) plug in your Sawz All
5) Set Blade Against the Shifter and Saw...the sawz-all will want to pull the shifter towards you so go sllow
6) vaccum up all the shavings
7) install a Universal Shift ****...MOMO works gooooddd
8) if its not to your liking length wise, take it off and repeat steps 3 through 6

If you wanted to use stock or any other threaded shifter then you would have to rethread it. At that point a real STS would be a good idea though.

How do you put a shift **** on after the shifter has been cut out? Do you glue it?... Thanks

I was also wondering how you get it to not move around. Also to remove the old shift **** do you just twist it or do you have to use vise grips???

the result is that it's still way too high IMO. Better than stock though. Anyhow, I cut mine even more. I am now able to switch gears faster and looks 10x better than stock. I will post pics soon.

Also, you should've went with MOMO, like me and so many others did. It's expensive, yes, but well worth it. The bottom half of your **** sucks when it is boiling hot outside...I know, because I used to have one alike. It gets really hot and would burn my hand every single time I got in my car after it sat outside in the sun.

I have the MOMO race airleather - best **** I've ever seen/felt. It's very solid construction and quality - inside is made of very strong materials, such as titanium. In addition, it is wrapped in some kind of real leather so that it never burns my hand, no matter how hot. I give this **** a 10/10.

nah aftermarket ***** normally aren't the thread type, you put a rubber cap on the end of the rod then put the **** on top, the **** normally has 3 or more allen key screws that bite into the rubber cap to hold it on.
