5th gen muffler on a 4th gen?

Hi, i saw a few max with a 5th gen muffler on them.

I would like to know what is involved on the modifications?

Does brackets comes at the right places?

How big is the inlet of the muffler on a 5th gen? 21/4" inches?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

The hangers line up fine, you just have to get it welded

Do you have a Y pipe, how is the sound?

The brackets are perfect fit without modifications?

How big is the inlet of the muffler? 21/4 inches?

I think the inlet is 2 1/4".
The brackets do line up perfect, but I think you have to flip the 5th gen one over to get it in the right place to line up with our 4th gen piping. No big deal though. I have one.
Go to my homepage and check it out.

If I had it to do again, I might not even cut a different hole in my bumper like I did. The guy that did mine kind of made it crooked, but if you are going to do it, just use a dremmel or a file or rasp or something. That way, you can be more exact.....sure, it will take longer, but it is worth it.

The reason I said that I would just leave it alone is because the 5th gen one seems to sit a bit lower than the stock one.

If you are going to cut a hole in your bumper to fit the piping, don't go any higher than the original hole is.....just go wider.

BTW....I love the sound of mine. I have a Warpspeed y-pipe, and it sounds really mean, but not too loud.

i have one on my 4th gen, it works great...i think everything fits perfectly, i bought one on the boards for like 80 bucks in great condition and had a shop put it on. the only thing you need to do is cut your bumper a little to allow room for tip. (dont cut too much, cause the 5th gen muffler sits lower then the 4th, even though it doesnt look like it should)

Yeah, it fits, but the shape is a bit off.
That is why I cut mine.
I made it wider.

It shouldnt be a problem to get put on. I have one on my 2ND gen. Of course my exhaust outlet was made for dual exhaust pipes. I saw some highway gains with this muffler. I must have had a very restrictive muffler on before because this one I can accelerate better at highway speeds. The shop I went to charged me 60 to put it on with new brackets. The 03 muffler gives it a nice look. I bought it for 150 about a year ago with only 6k miles on it.
