Loud, Mean sounding intake?

Im getting tired of my Stillen intake, its not as mean and loud as other intakes that maximas have. Which intake would be for the best sounding and performance?

^thats one thing I miss about my Accord, it had a super loud intake growl that turns into a screaming F1 car. Shouldn't compare an intake note of one engine to another, that car runs a very aggressive intakecam profile on its hot cam.

Do you have a mid-pipe? That will normally increase intake honk.

At the JP maxima meet, this one guy I know followed us back on the highway and he punched it to get next to me and let me tell you it was just a sick sound. Also he is a 97 auto.

Just remove your intake snorkel. It sounds completely normal from idle to about 2500 RPM then it just grooowwwllsss. It's more noticeable (a little louder) under WOT, too.

EDIT: It will sound this way with the stock resonator and air box. Just slap all that back on there, but take out the ram air scoop and stuff.

frankencar midpipe and K&N filter 2820 (cone) will add significant growl @ WOT, but be ready to lose low end power.

Exactly why you should run stock intake with the snorkel removed. It sounds mean, and I haven't noticed any loss of low end at all.

I have a JWT Popcharger. It roars when I step on it. Maybe switch to a CAI setup if you want it deeper.

trust me hacked airbox isn't that loud compared to a CAI (ones in the fenderwell, dunno about injen )
since its in the fenderwell away from the engine and in a well surrounded area, but yes, u will lose sum low end pow pow

I had the short ram, and went back to stock. Low end power is back. I actually forgot to run my snorkel. It sounds mainly stock to me

It does sound stock, unless you give it some throttle and let the RPM's go into the 3000+ range. You probably just forget what stock sounds like

why would u want to remove the snorkel? ur just allowing how air to enter ur box.
just keep it, remove the resonator, and do the OSCAI

any real consequences for not having the snorkel on? i haven't had it on in about 20k. Just changed the OEM stock filter to a K&N filter panel.

I'm not really getting any colder air entering WITH the snorkel, because the scoop on it is so tiny, and half my air goes to a box that just sits there and collects air. So why remove the snorkel? All the benefits of an intake without the low end loss.

I can't see there being any negative effects. People with hacked air boxes say their filter stays about the same, not really any more dirty. I wouldn't worry about PA weather either, because the hole is over the tranny and also all the plastic shields under the car and what not allow it to be in a spot where water/dirt aren't really of any concern.

i went from the stock box to a stillen popcharger, drove with that for a while and it sounded good and performed alright. after a few months i slowly noticed it was just bogging down when i went wot, it made its noise but not much more. then i hacked my stock box and took one resonator off put it on and got my low end and mid range back...dunno about high end i think that's even better too. better as in back to stock.
the growl differences between the stock hacked and the pop charger was just mainly more hollow and a bit more deep with the hacked box. i dont think ill try anything else as far as intakes and keep this one on
