Quiet HP

Being that I have an auto I don't see the point in 'total' performance. Actually I like it pretty quiet. I removed the lower airbox and the engine sounded awesome, I just hate the way an automatic sounds when it shifts. So I put the lower back on. Anyway I was just wondering what are some alternate ways to go, besides the y pipe and intake ect. The maxima is supposed to be a sleeper anyway, right? (also I noticed no gains from the removal of the lower airbox.)

hmm...quiet...my cattman muffler was quiet until i put an aftermarket ypipe in...maybe a full exhaust with a bigger resonator will quiet things...umm...another thing is a mevi/oovi/or ECU upgrades..another thing might be putting in some metal intake parts but keeping the stock airbox...hhmm...sorry i'm coming up with things as i go...you can gut ur car but ur not into total performance...lighter rims with high performance tires...nitrous would be quiet but since ur a noob not recommended(i say read up on it)...thats it for me...i have to go spend time with my other money eater...my girlfriend...hahaha.a.a..

lol thanks. Thats what I was thinking with the 00VI and ecu, and a pulley or something. Now I just have to read up on the 00VI some more. And nitrous is lame, in my opinion. I love how just because I'm a noob here that means I know nothing about cars in general... What about Y with stock exhaust? how does that compare to an intake in sound.

A y-pipe alone won't change the sound of your car. Just do that if you want to keep it quiet.

I have a Cattman Y with a stock exhaust on my car. Just the Y does not increase the sound at all, as far as I've noticed. Too quiet for me, so ima change that soon with a after market cat-back. I prefer to have at least one part of the car make some noise. If you have a stock exhaust, stick on a intake. If you have a intake, stick on a after market exhaust. I want the car to sound like it's modded if that's what I did.

The Y-Pipe is the first mod you should look at. If won't increase your exhaust sound much if at all if you have stock exhaust. It will only get loud if you decide to combine it with an aftermarket exhaust. ECU and 00VI would be the next logical steps and than the UDP, although many people say that it doesn't give substantial gains. If you keep your stock intake and exhaust you will still get most of the gains without the extra noise.

Y pipe. 2.5" pipe into a 2000+ maxima muffler. CAI, underdrive pulley, mevi or the 2000 manifold if you are 99 and below. Valve body mod.
