stripping/repainting rims

Right now, I have 5th Gen rims on my 99 and they're painted gunmetal. That was the way I bought them. I want to strip the gunmetal color and go back to the factory look for the rims. I was wondering if I used a paint stripper like VHT Strip Fast Paint Remover (SP575) http://www.speco.com.au/vht_chemicals.html, would it remove the original layer of paint that was on the rims? (I hope it doesn't)

If it does remove the original layer of paint on the rims, would this paint fix the problem? VHT Wheel Paint (SP181) which is Aluminum color. http://www.speco.com.au/vht_wheel.html

if u use the stripper, it will basically strip all of it off but will take longer due to the extra coats of paint. getting it nicely stripped and sanded is gonna take HUGE time and labor. or u can just paint over it and add clear coat

as stated, stripping it might not be worth it. I say rough up the surface a bit, paint and clear coat.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'll just paint it over and clearcoat it since I dont have that miuch time to strip it, sand it, paint it and clearcoat it.
