Air Bag light

Aisde from the fact that my serpentine belt needs changing, all of a sudden my Air Bag light began flashing. I came in on a hot day and my steering wheel was extremly hot, and that's when the light started to flash. Is this a sensor? Could the air bag be bad?? Wtf do I do...and damnit I sprung an exhaust leak now.

cant find the air bag light fix link that worked. i think it was something like:

1. get in your car, open the door
2. turn key to ON position
3. find rubber surrounded button on door sil that is depressed when door is closed
4. press it 10 times within ten seconds, quickly
5. shut your door, turn the key to OFF position and DO NOT TAKE OUT THE KEY
6. start the car, see if it worked, worked for me

mine goes off as well and i cleared it as well. the only thing i have heard that can change this is to take it in and have the airbags "replaced." which is around a lot of money. so i just said screw it and left it, cuz its not worth it too me. if you just want it to go away so it doesnt look ghetto with a blinking light disconnect the light.

I had my flashing air bag light diagnosted at a local NISSAN dealership. They told me that it was a sensor thats under the passenger side seat that needs to be replaced. Cost was about $1000 w/ labor. They are outta their damn minds.

my air bag lite is still flashing to this day.

Wait, so why not get the same sensor from the junkyard? It can't be that hard to replace. Who the **** puts an airbag sensor under passenger side seat???????? Is there a way to diagnose the airbag code myself?

well, I read the stickies and found out that if I have a 99..it might be the passenger side seat airbag. So I smacked it hard, removed the junk from under the seats...voila. No more light blinking.

ok, The button in the door pillar hey.. So thats the lil black button right inbetween the front and back door.... And when you touch it, the door ajar button flashes right??? Well, I left the key in the on position and pushed WAY over 10 times in 10 secs and then put the key to off, then turn it on right away, the air bag light goes solid, then starts flashing right away..... Should it stay off for a little? or start flashing right away?

open door, press the little nipple black thing 10 time fast, close the door, turn the key to off, then turn car on. I can't remember if it's that or , press 10 time, turn off car close door, start car. It's one of those.

There is a TSB on the passenger side air bag wire. The wire that comes with the car is too short and over time can throw a flashing air bag light. Usually what I do is move the seat forward and back while in dianostic mode of the flashing air bag light, then turn the car back on and it is gone. I would had change it but the revised part is expensive from the dealer.

Thanks

I just wanted to thank you guys. I was wanting to post that very question, however found out that I needed 15 posts. This is my first. I tried to reset the light it kept flashing. I moved the passenger set forward and back, smacked it a few times and so far it's out.
Great forum, thanks again.

alot of the times the clock spring can go bad in the steering wheel...

thats a common problem.. well thats what happened with mine.. reset works for a while then blinks again... then when i put the preforated steerign wheel on.. it went away.. for liek a month and after 1000nds of turns it came back.. so i came to conclusion Fit.. my car has over 100,000 miles. .not worth spend toomuch money to fix.. unless i come along a clocksrpring by anychance...

(ALSO VYNL paint works GREAT for spraying my brown airbag black to match my black sterring wheel..)

so yea.. i put in an SE cluster.. and so i opened up teh guage and well where the airbag light is... i took a peice of black electrical tape.. and cover the square where the light is behing the guage face.. so now no annoying blinking airbag light... its annoying at night speciall.. heh.. and my girlfirend is alway complaining.. is the airbag gonna blow up... and crap so i got tierd of the comments so i covered the light.. so fat works for me... all my airbags will still deploy except for hte steering one... i guess.. i get is scanned to make shure its not the other airbags... for passenger saftey...

I moved the seat froward and back, smacked it a few times and went through the key on, toggle door switch 10 times, turn ignition off, then start car. So far after 100 miles light is still off.

Well I found out last night that the air bags were still OK after resetting the light. Some lady ran a red light and I T boned her. Both air bags inflated as expected. I'm sure he Max is totaled, will be looking for another soon I hope.
