Please Help Important!

i purchased a 97 black maxima. after doing so i sent my title to georgia to get insurance. my title got lost in the mail and now i have noway of getting the title. i came across this guy who said he can get me a copy of the title for 200 bucks, which isnt bad he also did the same thing for my friend, but the catch is that i need a MV-61 business certificate of a DMV registered shop in NYC. i have tried everything i can to obtain this document but i havent been able to, if any1 knows or has a way of getting this document, i am willing to pay up to 100$ for this document that will only be used to get my title. please help or if any1 already knows another way that i can get my title please let me know

Damm...I guess the only way to get your title back would be to talk to the state DMV that the car was regsitered in and request a copy.......

BTW, could you have gotten away with sending a copy, or did you have to send the real title?

i think you can just get one from the dmv...for a fee of course...thats why you should never mail the title of your car...good luck

This story makes no sense.

1. Why do you have to mail your title anywhere to get insurance?
2. If you OWN the car or have a lien on it, you can walk down to your local DMV and apply for a new title and they'll issue a new one (for a fee).

Just a frew questions:
1. I understand that you just purchased the vehicle, why did you have to send the title to GA when you live in NY?
2. What state was the title from?
3. Was the title already transferred to you?
4. If no to 3, can you cantact the previous owner?

You should be able to apply for a lost title at the dmv, I know it is a desperate situation to you but you don't need to be slinging money to people like that, that's how you get owned!! BTW I received a title in the mail from the bank for a guy that lived in Washington State (west coast) and I'm in TN. I mailed it back to the bank, if someone got it, it may take a little while to get to you if they sent it to the wrong person.

Spades, you can definitely get the doc at the DMV. My boys mom works at the DMV near my house. I will try to ask her but you should be able to just put in for replacement title w/ no hassle. And you may want to check into who you sent the title to because no insurance company needs a title to give insurance. At least when I worked in insurance we never asked for that.

Yeah even if they did need the title, I can't imagine that they would expect you to mail it all the way down there. When I just bought my Maxima in VA. The dealership had to mail my title to me so I have dealt with a title through the mail but I had no choice. I still wouldn't mail it myself. They don't have a satellite office?
