Pulled out the NGK BKR5E-11 spark plugs

Here's a look at the plugs (NGK BKR5E-11) after 44,000kms.

1. Did they needed to be replaced?
2. There was no more NGK BKR5E-11 in stock, so I went with BKR6E-11 this time (better for cold starts as per http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....80#post2815980)

Also note that I was guilty of using cheap gas

Since you pulled them changed them. I would start using the better gas.

I'm not sure how long 44,000kms is in miles but, they look like they could last a bit longer in the car, but seeing as you have them out migh as well change them.

44,000 km is just over 27,300 miles or 91% of what they are supposed to be good for.

With that said then yes change them, your sparks are in a healthy condition, 30K is about the lifespan of the coppers.

Those plugs look like platinum. Are you sure you want to change to copper? Copper is fine, but you need to replace it more frequently than Platinum.

is the electrode in the center supposed to be tapered like that? I've never pulled my plugs out (as you can tell).

Did you toss out the plugs you removed? Those plugs look to be in good shape to me.

Sure those aren't Platinum? Electrode looks a bit small (Pt = higher density than Cu)

I never said they were.. I don't know what they are, but when I get home tonight I'll check the label on it and report back.

Does anyone have a pic of what a bad spark plug looks like? This will help for next time
