I am saving enough money to buy a new car, and keep the max for every day driving. I think it would be cool mod, but if it will cost you over $1000.00, i would not do it.

you have to custom your whole back-end to make that fit... trunk would have to be cut where the center tails are and customize the whole rear panel... wouldn't worth the money. just get altezza and paint them.

I agree it will cost a lot, but be very unique. If you got the cheddar to spend on that then go for it.

Dream on buddy. They always get you in the end. Soon we'll all be driving SUV's. "The new age mini-van", because "the wife" wanted it.

I refuse, my girlfriend has already spoken about getting a mini van when there are kids. It would make sense to have a mini van if I had 6 kids, but I'm sorry If I only end up with 1-3 kids there will be no mini van. "the wife" can want all she wants, and if she desires she's a working woman and purchase it herself, like I would purchase a turbo kit etc. . .

My point mainly if there are no kids, I buy what I want, I consult no one. If we have kids then thats a different story.

Bingo!!!! That's just one of their devilish tricks. It's inevitable. They always get you by the sack.

Not me! I know my girl is dead set of the SC430, and I'm dead set on the Max but later either the Z or G35, so I maybe the lucky one to not end up the car enthusiasts driving a mini van, watching all the tuned cars drive around me.

But we do plan for kids, so the proper family car will have to be 4 doors. . . so I'm reduced to the Evo or STi

If you have the cash, then go for it. It would look hot.
Go all out and do the headlights also.
Skyline tails and headlights would be the sh*t.

Damn he's still on stock wheels and suspension in the pic. You figured after the corversion work and paint you'd get some fresh wheels and a nice drop in there.

Will it look good? Probably. Will it look good enough to justify the cost? That's questionable in my opinion, it would really depend on how much custom work needs to be done. I don't know how much it would cost, but I'd imagine it would probably be more than it's worth.

for the cost versus the "happy factor", I would just do the red/clears and put the extra money towards something else. That's just my thougts, and it's your car so do what moves you.

Getting those tails to fit your car won't exactly fall under the terms "spending a little money". It will involve a lot of cutting and body molding to get those to fit. Not worth it IMO, especially when your girl is the one in control of the fundage.

DrTySOUFMax23,

Coming from a person that has done R34 tails on my I30, I say do it you will set your self aside from the rest of the maxima community. IF you are having second thoughts you can check out my ride when we have the Austin meet. But I say do it

Since you have done the conversion, care to enlighten everyone as to what a modification like that costs?

It looks hot if its done right.

but in my opinion its not worth the money, ive seen it at a show about 2 years ago and the guy said it costed him $1,500 to get it done, and he said that was a deal!

I would never pay that much.

For me I was lucky to know the guy who own the shop, so he did all the work free and all I did was buy the parts. So I lucked out. I do know there is allot of work involved in this conversion, we cut so much off the back I started to cry , but also I have a custom rear bumper so it was alittle diff. If I had to guess the price I would say around $2,000 or alittle more depending on the shop you go to. But let me tell you it is well worth it at the end. I'll take some pics this weekend to show you how mine looks, it should be out of the paint shop around Wednesday or Thursday.

would love to see pictures.

I couldnt imagine paying 2 grand for just a cosmetic mod, thats just me but that could easily go to soo much performance parts, or a few and have some change in the bank.

It just hit me Royal_T your old sig was the back of your car, I had no idea till I just read your post.
